Introduction
Point of sale (also called as POS or checkout) is the place where a retail transaction is completed. It is the point at which a customer makes a payment to the merchant in exchange for goods or services.
At the point of sale the retailer would calculate the amount owed by the customer and provide options for the customer to make payment. The merchant will also normally issue a receipt for the transaction.

Barcode Scanner
The application Barcode Scanner is an Android app, from the open source project ZXing (short for Zebra Crossing), that allows a user to scan 1-D or 2-D "graphical barcodes" with the camera on their Android device. The program turns that scan into the original data that is represented by the barcode.
In this way the android based system works almost like a conventional Barcode Reader except that it is only composed of commodity hardware and this software application.
Barcode Printer
A Barcode printer is a computer peripheral for printing barcode labels or tags that can be attached to, or printed directly on, physical objects.
Barcode printers are commonly used to label cartons before shipment, or to label retail items with UPCs or EANs.
Cash Drawer
An essential part of a POS system is the cash drawer. Money, credit card receipts and other paperwork is stored here. This piece of hardware receives a signal from the computer or receipt printer and opens when necessary.

A magnetic stripe card is a type of card capable of storing data by modifying the magnetism of tiny iron-based magnetic particles on a band of magnetic material on the card.
