SINGING IS JOY :)

Singing makes me feel all warm inside like I can fly up

to the sky, it gives me hope that someday they’ll be, someone with a dream just like me.

Singing brings me joy even in my darkest hour,

like when I sing in the shower, it’s like my sun it brings me light and I hope,

it will make my dreams take flight, and make my life seem so bright.

“CHERP, CHERP, CHERP!” “SING, SING, SING!”

Hear the birds calling. it brings such a joyous ring to my ears ,

tears start to well, because it is such a joyous ring....

Oh how I LOVE to sing.

By: Sofia Sieker“CHERP, CHERP”

Page 4: Poetic Paradise

When someone left that touched your heart, you feel a sprout that you never felt, teardrops fall like a rainy day, your heart will never be the same again, one by one your friends have gone, you won’t see them again till time passes on.

Your friends have gone around the globe,to different place like San Francisco or Mexico, some have migrated, some have flew, some have taken taken a ship or two.

Some have left because of drought, businesses have called for rearranging, why can’t the world stay put instead of changing, your broken heart can not be repaired,so let us just leave it there.

By the time you’ve seen them they have settled in,made new friends and had a good time, they still have a place in their heart for you,but just remember so do you.

The waters of the earth cant part you, from being friends with the person inside you, their hearts are flowing with love and care,a special place in their live’s you both share.

Your Friends Are Gone

I walk down a street, with mom and dad.I see a baby crying.Really loud, feeling bad.I know what it’s like.! ! Children are ghosts in the citytiny toddlers, or kids my age.We all feel. We all cry.We all twins deep inside.Parents and their friendslose the sense to understand. They don’t know what it’s like.

Our generation of iPhone and iPad.“We had it tougher!” say mom and dad.Do you know what it’s like?Do you know how it feels? We feel pressures, felt them just like you.Laughed at, schoolwork, left “outside”.Adults don’t understand and never tried.

Moving

Going away, Listening to the echo of the halls,The house is as empty as space,

I feel out of place,Wandering around with nowhere to go,

Nothing to do but wait and wait,Removal men come and the truck eats its

fill,To where it shall go I do not know.

I hope it is where I will go.I will meet different people and make new

friends,But I will feel a new feeling, something deep

inside,That is the longing for a place to reside.

Everyone looked up at the plane.Planes never fly this low. Everyone wondered what was happening.Suddenly, it happened.

The plane slammed into one of the biggest towers in the world. The world was shattering. After the explosion, there was silence. Then the screaming began.

Everyone thought it was an accident. But then, another plane appeared. It looked like a crucifix to the people below.BOOM! It slammed into the other tower.

By now, everyone knew that this wasn’t a accident.People couldn’t believe that this was happening. There were firefighters everywhere.Sprinting up the towers.

Just then, the first tower collapsed. The people couldn’t watch anymore.Firefighters in the tower were surely dead. So was everyone else in the tower.

People in the tower couldn’t bear the fire and the smoke anymore. They jumped off the building instead of burning. It was like people raining down.

Then second tower collapsed.Everyone will remember this day. This day was September 11th, 2001.

The World

Before,The world was

beautiful,Now...

The Sky, Falling,

like it’s Crumbling,The glass,

engulfed in heat as it shatters

The animals,hurt,

staggering, The earth,

so hot that it’s melting, but we,

crying for the past,and standing.

Stars I stare out my window, I gaze at the stars.

They’re tiny shining as bright as a light bulb. The sky looks like a christmas tree,

with millions of tiny lights.

Stars are so beautiful, shooting through the sky.

Suddenly, sunlight peeks through the clouds. The stars and moon wave goodbye to me,

and I’ll see them again tonight.

By Audrey Tam

Page 10: Poetic Paradise

As I sing to the moon, I howl out my sorrowsThey ride the wind farThe owls will follow, and the bats will hear meThe pack is gone, long gone, long goneIf only the stars can carry me away, to the moon for a new light.

So bold, so bold are the bears To fight for days and nightsAgainst the darkness so deep Evil is never completeFor our lives we fight, wasting away for nights and nightsThe light is so bright but I cannot see the next phase of my life.

Soccer

I am a soccer ball,As round as an eyeball,I get kicked around the pitch,Trying to get into the goal.

I am never able to score,Until a long time.Kaboom, then a player kicks me out, And the goalie kicks me up to the sky,!Up very high, as high as the sky.!The winning team celebrates,They throw me up in the air.

Seasons

Seasons are cold and hot,Peacefully floating by,

Like a silent wave wishing by,It comes to the end of one and changes to another.

Seasons are a special date,Marked in everyday,

Making the world so peaceful,Dancing dashing through the days,

Making the people jumping through the exciting days with the seasons slowing passing by.

Woe

Its So hard to forget someone,If they gave so much to you. If they’re the only one, It gets harder. The other night when we played together,As I touched your gentle fur, I imagined my life without you, My dog, Woe-man’s best friend

Bark Bark Bark,I hear your voice.I come home and feel all alone.I wish you were here.I imagined my life without you,My dog,Woe-man’s best friend.

By Dana Chan

Page 14: Poetic Paradise

The steady scratching of skate against ice behind me.The drumming of my heartbeat in my ears. Here comes the goal net and the goalie. If I score this, we will win the game.

As I skate in, I can’t help but notice that the goalie seems to be covering every inch of the goal like a brick wall.I pick the top left part of the net, and I flick my wrists.

The puck is like a bird, sailing through the air.The goalie flashes out a hand to block it, but it’s already too late.GOAL! The crowd around me erupts. And then the whistle blows. We have won the game!

I am a plastic cup, In the rubbish bin waiting for the garbage truck,To journey to the landfill.

I get dumped with the others, then buried in the ground. After hundreds of years,I still wait to decompose.

! Rabbits Hop! Hop! Hop! The sun is coming up Cute little rabbits hop through the field. Their feet like little snowballs, jumping up and down.

The rabbits find a carrot. Then as fast as a gust of wind, they eat the carrot up.

The sun starts to set on the big grassy field. The rabbits all hop home happily. This is the life of a rabbit. By Audrey Tam

On the Outside

Luca Thompson

Looking at every one,

Laughing and smiling,

When on the inside,

I’m slowly dying.

Slinking in shadows,

Finding gray in the light,

Seeking some strength,

To be able to shine so bright.

But then my hope is forgotten,

My dreams faded,

Courage is deserting me,

The light I saw is jaded.

So I stand to the side,

Let my faith cark,

And feeling regret and sorrow,

I return to the dark.

If Today Was Your Last day

If today was your last day,Tomorrow was to late,

Could you say good bye to yesterday,

Or would you live each moment like your last,

And leave old memories in the past.

“As I swim” By Abbie Chow 5D

As I swim through the water, it feels so cool,

because I love to swim in the pool.

Soaring through the water, I feel that gold medal on my neck

I can see myself standing on the podium with the crowd cheering in my ears.

As I fly off the block with my perfect dive, I feel so alive.

Swimming makes me feel free inside, like I can reach up and touch the sky. Getting all soaked, I don’t feel upset,

I’m filled only with joy.Thats why I love to swim.

“Splish Splash Splish Splash”, Diving into the water,

O how much I love to swim.

As I swim it feels like I am first, As I touch the wall the crowd cheers and yells

at me, All the joy that I feel in my heart makes me so

happy.

Page 20: Poetic Paradise

Movingby Maddie F-S

I am moving,I feel like grooving,

I am moving,I’m disapproving.

Teardrops fall,I’ve hit a brick wall,

I feel so small,At the same time tall.

I am leaving,I feel like grieving,

I am leaving,I’m disbelieving.

Page 21: Poetic Paradise

DogsI am a dog,Waiting for my owner to come back,As I wait I hear the lock crack,The door opens and I come running at them,My body !lls with joy,As he gives me a toy.

My Brother

My brother is like a mosquito. Always annoying me. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!! He shouts at me. My brother is as skinny as a skeleton. He is like a super skinny skeleton. My brother is as naughty as a monkey. He throws toys at me. My brother is as short as a table. He jumps up and down to see things. My brother is as loud as a trumpet. He shouts and screams and makes everyones ears hurt. My brother is very annoying.

“Picnics are fun” By Abbie Chow 5D

As my father drives to the picnic site, I feel the wind massaging my hair and

transforming it .

Hunger in my tummy, it hopes for something yummy.

Quickly out of the car, wishing to play with my brother.

At the playground, having so much fun. Dad shouting “Time to eat”.

Food filling my tummy, Oh I love picnics.

Picnics are fun, catching my brother, no one to bother,

“Oh, whoops where’s my mother??”

Page 25: Poetic Paradise

A Palette of emotionsA trunkful of tears,

Illuminate my eyes like jewels,as I vanish in my vulcan, vroom.

Bon voyage.Sad like a plant without water.As I take off in a taxi Ta-ta

My old life packing up and leaving,Moving makes me mournful.

Sometimes good things,start with goodbye,

A spot of sun in the dark sky,My worries vanish,

happy like a dog with a new bone,Moving makes me merry.

New friends,new school,

new beginnings,Curious as George,

What will my life be like?Moving makes me muddled.

One day, if the plains of grass feel useless, they will slowly disappear into the soft squishy mud.

From that day onwards, the grassy green fields will never be seen again.

One day, if the stars think that they are too dim, they will fall one by one like the rocks on a cliff, falling to their

treacherous fate. From that day onwards, the bright shining stars will never be seen

again.

One day, if the sand thinks that they are to small, they will disappear one by one.

From that day onwards, the tall big buildings will never be built again.

One day, if the birds say that their voce is to silent, they will slowly stop singing.

From that day onwards, the people’s ears will be very, very lonely.

Soccer Nicholas 5D

I run to the ball and tackle a person. I dribble and dribble to the goal.

The soccer ball is as big as a basketball. It feels so happy and exciting.

And I keep running, and score a goal! Everyone is cheering.

I feel so happy with joy. The referee blows his whistle.

The game is over. We won!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone is shouting and cheering. I shout and scream and I feel so happy.

Then the referee gives me a trophy, the trophy looks at me ,

I drive home feeling like I am in heaven.

Endangered Species

There is prey and there are predators,

Killed one by one,For the food, fur and

feather.Having the last laugh,

And all cut in half

But its not me,They’re greedy.

They're the hunters. My family is almost gone,Who will be the last one

to fall?

AngerA flame,Burning bright,Inside the heartWith eyes as bright as the sun,Shining in the sky,The flame we all carry,But cant be seen,Unleashed it will crumble any thing in its path,Even yourself,But you can hold it back,by seeing the nice side of the world,The water as clear as glass, use it to destroy the flame,But it will always come back,Live again,Tomorrow is a new day,It comes with surprises,That might help in the never ending squabble,Light against dark.

Life of a ChickenI am a chicken with brown and tan wings My friends get pushed into the deep black holeThe terror within me is growing in my heartAs if they are monster’s without empathyWe are eaten as drool passes there mouth As they consume us head to feetThere is no care,we are nothing but meatThe inevitable process happens again My flesh is getting fatter, I am in demand The predator is waiting for his tasty meal This is my destiny This is the life of a chicken

Last Year

I remember that time,When the hallway was like a

destructive tsunami,Sweeping me off my feet,As I call for my family,

I remember the time,When I was like a flower,

blowing in the wind, With only a few people, whose love toward me,

was stronger than a 9.9 magnitude earthquake

And the mean minds made the world,

Seem like insides of a scratched pearl

But even if standing through the cold winds is an amazing

feat,And standing as a tsunami

rushes through is a bigger feat,You can only do it,

If you never let yourself,be beat.

Happiness is........As loud as the footsteps of a big fat giant,As big as the smile on the suns face,As cheerful as the fans when a striker scores,As sweet as the smell of a red smiling strawberry,As happy as a mother with a newborn baby,As shiny as the gooses golden egg.

Life of a golf ball

I wait on the tee,Shaped like a bee. The club smashes me faster than a plane. In the air and I am gliding, I hit the ground, Bang!

Lying safely on the green I wait. The green is as shiny as silver,

He putts me into the hole. Becoming as happy as a rainbow. I am safe.

Emotions

Happiness is the rainbow, right after life’s most low.Sadness is blue. It’s what you feel, when called a fool.Anger is the bright red face,or the tinkle of smashed crystal.

If we had no emotions, life would be grey, not unlike a dog, without bite or bray.

If we had no emotions, we couldn’t feel:the sense of joy when with friends,or the calm beauty,of a day’s end.

War

There is a war all over the world, guns and bombs across the street.

Terrifying and scary.F-22‘s flying through the sound barrier.M1 tanks running across the desert land.

War is like an elephant stomping on the Earth, crushing gigantic cities.Everyone needs a hero, and so does the war.

Soccer Ball

I am a soccer ball.My shape is sphere.

People always kick me around, and pump me up.

I am a soccer ball, used by soccer players.

They kick me past the net, And shout GOAL!

I am a soccer ball,enjoyed by all.

I will always be a soccer ball, forever popular.

Bang! As the golf club swings the ball into the air,

it’s music to my ears.

The Ball flies fast like an eagle in the sky and lands into the hole.

When you hit the golf ball straight to the hole, then it’s a

The good part is that“YOUR THE WINNER!”

I can hear my boots slushing in the snow

“SLUSH, SLUSH, SLUSH!” I add on the carrot for the nose as it

snows and snows, I don’t feel lonely anymore now that I

have someone to adore. I try to bring you home but you wont

I enter the torrent of portable shelters,Splish, splash, splish, splash,

Sharp eagles talons target my eyes,I’m insignificant, invisible

I am a warrior without a weapon.

Warrior without a weapon

The sky begins to thicken and darken,Pitter, patter, pitter, patter,

It has arrived and I have made an unforgivable mistake,Doomed to be drenched,

I am a warrior without a weapon.

Rain heavy like sheets of metal nails falling,Shiver, shudder, shiver, shudder,

Where is Moses to part the red sea?Frustration fuming fiercely inside me,I am a warrior without a weapon.

Spying a dry sanctuary I swoop,Bump, crunch, bump, crunch,

Jealousy rises seeing someone bone dry smiling in my sanctuary,

Blood boiling beyond belief,I am a warrior without a weapon.
