Learning and Development: The Pramati WayFIVE SCENES:

A client panics because a technical problem related to the service you provide is seriously

aecting daily business. The client is losing money, and wants the issue to go away now, if not

yesterday. You know you can’t promise results or project timelines. The problem is a serious one

and the solution is nowhere in sight. What do you say?

You’re an introvert, shy, yet single-minded about work. You’re willing to put in any amount of

hours solo during the work day. But the project to which you’re currently assigned requires

collaboration and teamwork on a daily basis. What do you do?

One member on your team consistently gets recognized for work to which many others have

contributed. You decide to do something about it. How do you make sure credit goes where

credit is due?

A colleague consistently uses unprofessional language, which can sometimes be oensive, to

you and to others. How do you react?

A client gives a requirement to your team in non-technical terms. How do you go about

choosing appropriate solutions and corresponding technologies (especially when the

technologies that provide the best solutions lie outside your comfort zone)?

What do the above workplace scenarios have to do with learning and development, you ask?

Each of the five requires critical thinking, what business analysts argue is a crucial aspect of

workplace success, in which learning and development can play a vital role. The five scenarios

respectively represent the five domains of Learning and Development at Pramati:

Communication, Personality, Leadership, Culture, and Technology. Critical thinking is the

driving force behind all five domains.

BUT WHAT EXACTLY IS CRITICAL THINKING?

We all have the capacity to think. But often, our thinking tends to be muddled, distorted, or

incomplete. Sometimes, we act/react according to pre-existing attitudes, beliefs, or feelings.

Critical thinking is reflecting on any question or problem in a clear, open-minded manner,

carefully considering surrounding factors and facts.

CRITICAL THINKERS CAN:

Listen actively, Raise relevant questions, Gather and interpret information, Consider other points

of view, Reason out assumptions, implications, and practical consequences, Problem-solve using

logic and reasoning, Communicate eectively and ethically about problems, process, and

possible solutions.

Critical thinking can improve the quality of your ideas, output, and life. Watch the L&D calendar in

months to come for programs that will make critical thinkers out of us all!

teams from Bangalore worked in unison while

accommodating change in schedules to successfully

release this application. The financial apps team

optimized a key transaction matching process by

making it scale up to ‘n’ transactions from the current

200.

QA signed o on two critical projects for the AJG

business undergoing the transition from Lotus Notes to

SharePoint – International Network and AJG

Compliance based Internal Review. GREAT, ICE and ART

I’m from Karnataka. Politics is my interest. Two favourite

movies are "The Pursuit of Happiness" and "Invictus".

One recent fun experience was a visit to Deccan Trails

with my team.

Vamsi Krishna Chava

Hi! I am from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. I like collecting

movies, playing cricket and video games. One of my

favourite books is Ayn Rand’s “Fountain Head”. A recent

experience that made me happy was joining Pramati.

Sushma Madirala

I’m from Vizag. My hobbies are painting (emboss, pot,

canvas), pencil sketching, paper filigree (aka quilling)

and I’m interested in photography and gardening. Two

favourite movies are “Tinker Bell” and “Life of Pi”. One

recent fun experience was a trip to Araku Valley. The

plan finally took shape after several attempts. I enjoyed

the weather, scenic beauty and the lack of mobile

coverage and internet access. I do not even remember

when I last had such a great time without mobiles and

internet.

Anil Kumar Komanduri

I’m from Hyderabad. I like all genres of music, writing

and exercise. I particularly enjoyed the “Shiva trilogy” by

Amish Tripathi. I find it to be a good blend of fiction and

mythology with excellent narration that keeps the

imaginative juices flowing.

Recently I achieved my long pending resolution of losing

9 kilos in one-and- half months by maintaining a

balanced diet and regularly working out. I feel much

more active and energetic now!

I am a major foodie and love movies. Amongst friends I

am known as the "Movie Database". I am generally

known for my mischiefs and the hulk load of food I can

gobble. I was a Senior Application Developer at iNautix

for three years, working on Mainframes. My hobbies

include painting, gardening, reading, cooking and

movies! I am a big fan of Michael Schumacher. I have a

scrap book which contains over 200 cut outs and still

maintain it though I’ve grown up. I also make

personalized greeting cards/books for friends and family.

My favourite movie has been and always will be "Forrest

Gump". I love the idea of a man being able to do anything

he wants to with no restrictions or fear. My favourite

books are the "Sherlock Holmes Volumes by Sir Arthur

Conan Doyle" because life would be boring if there were

nothing to unravel.

Since I have fun all the time, it’s very dicult to pick one

recent fun experience. It probably would be plant

hunting in ECR from various nurseries for our garden.

Madan TK

Hi I’m from Bangalore. I like playing cricket and my

favourite movie is Indian. A recent funny experience I had

was on an AC sleeper bus from Bangalore to Hyderabad.

I saw a note saying ‘Don't charge your laptop or the bus

will break-down’. But one person decided to charge his

laptop despite this warning. Within 10 minutes the bus

broke down. The reason the man gave to the angry bus

driver was that he didn’t have a mobile charger, only had

a data cable, and so he needed his laptop to charge his

phone!

Priyanka Sharma

I am from Vidisha, a City in the heart of India (Madhaya

Pradesh).I am an optimistic person who believes in hard

work in a smart way. My interests are - gardening, music,

dancing, sports etc. My favourite movie is "The Core" as

it's a superb science fiction art.

Sasidhar Pasa

I’m an easy going person whoworks well with everyone. I

enjoy being around dierent types of people and I like to

always challenge myself to improve at everything I do.

I am interested in organic farming and animal care. My

favourite movie is “The Godfather” because it teaches

how to live our life and not to.
