The KING can move one space in any direction.

The KNIGHT moves in an L-shaped pattern. 2 spaces up, down, left, right, and then 1 space to make L-shape.

Special Move: CastlingSpecial Move: Castling• Castling: When both your king and your rook are still located in the place where they began the game and there are no pieces between them you can castle.

• Castling is only possible if your king has not yet moved or been in check.

•To castle, move your king two squares towards the available rook. Then bring the rook and place it next to the king on the other side.

• En passant: Pawns have one more special move. They can capture another pawn as it moves past them, if it moves two squares. See Illustration below:
