Practices & Beliefs From one of our teachers Professional development should not be painful, nor should it feel like a waste of time to its participants. Just as teachers have been encouraged to move away from the banking method of teaching, facilitators of professional development should also move towards a more engaging, participatory model. Successful models of professional development invite teachers to be active co-creators of relevant and creative learning experiences. Administrators and developers of professional development should aim to create meaningful, long-term opportunities for teachers to share resources and support one another. 13.
