We asked 37 people of their preferred genre of music and the outcome was that the majority preferred Pop. However we have chosen to centre our magazine around the music genre of Indie as it was the preferred second and easiest to base our pictures around.

The majority of people we asked in the interview said that the front cover was important and who was on it would make them want to buy the magazine. They also said that the content of the magazine was important and that advertising what would be inside the magazine on the front is more effective as it immediately catches the eye.

Some magazines (mostly gossip) attract their buyers through free gifts however music magazines do not generally do this. In the interview we asked people would they buy music magazines more often if they were entitled to a free gift. Some said yes but the overall answer was no as they commented that the free gifts usually given are cosmetic which links to the magazine bought, but it would not be as easy to think of a free gift that links to music, that would be cheap and useful.

When asked about subscribing to a music magazine, many people said that they generally buy one off music magazines as they are mostly attracted by the front cover, when subscribing to the magazine you cannot guarantee you will like the next edition.

When asked about the general content on music magazines a number of people suggested that they would like to know more about the up coming festivals and include interviews with some of the artists from the line ups.

This was my final choice for my front cover image.

This was my original image for my front cover but I decided that I wanted a full body shot.

I used this image on my contents page, I liked all six of these images as they had a good background but I think the third had the best effect.
