All through high school I took my studying very lightly and hardly put any time into my school work. Classes came easily to me so naturally, I did not have to spend a lot of time studying. After school I would go home, sit on my bedroom oor, study for a couple of hours at most, and then enjoy the rest of my night. However, college is a completely different ststory. My classes at Purdue are a lot harder and re-quire much more effort. Therefore, I have to study a lot more, and I spend almost all of my time doing homework when I am not in class. Because I spend so much time studying, I like to change up my studying environment so I don’t get too bored. Luckily, I have many options to choose from here at Purdue and have incorporated this plethera of places to study into my studying habits. The places that I choose to study depend on the type of home-work that I am working on at the time, but no matter where I am, I have found a suitable environ-ment

Introduction

One of my favorite places to study is my big, comfort-able, lounging chair that is located inside of my own dorm room. I usually choose to study in this chair when I have a reading assignment of some sort to do. Whether it be reading a chapter out of my Chemistry book or skimming an English article, this chair is the best place to do this type of studying. It is comfort-able and is also located right by the window in my room, which provides fresh air and a source of natu-ral lighting to help prevent eye strain.

When I have homework that is a little more challeng-ing than just doing a reading, for example, a math assignment, I work at my desk. It is very convienent to do homework here because this is where I keep all of my pens, pencils, books, paper, and my laptop. I have everything I could ever need and I am also provided with good lighting and a hard surface to write on. I complete most of my homework assignwrite on. I complete most of my homework assign-ment at my desk because it is where I am most effi-cient.

When I’m sick of studying and doing homework in my dorm room, but I don’t want to walk too far, I just walk downstairs to my dorm’s study lounge and grab a table. I love studying here because it is usually pretty quiet, and I can buy a beverage from one of the many vending machines to stimulate my brain. I often use this lounge to meet with groups and work on projects for school sinfor school since there are large tables and plenty of seats.

There are a lot of days throughout the week where I have breaks between my classes, but the breaks aren’t long enough to go all the way back to my dorm room. If the weather is nice outside, I usually nd some chairs outside where I can sit down, study a little bit, and enjoy the weath-er. Conveinently, Purdue has a lot of chairs and benches on campus where students like myself can rest and maybe squeesqueeze in some studying between classes. Although I would prefer to study in a place with less distractions, I don’t like to make my time between classes a complete waste of time.

Another great place outside where I like to study when the weather is nice are the little tables located by my dorm and on campus. I study at these tables when I have a break in between classes and I want to meet up with friends. Usually I utilize tables like these during lunch hour when I want to grab a bite to eat and get some homework done. There are also some tables like this some tables like this by my dorm that I use when I need some fresh air.

Although I love to study outside on campus when I get the chance, the place that I can most likely be found is at Amelia’s Cafe in Armstrong Hall of Engi-neering. Since I am an Engineer, I spend most of my time on campus in this building. Studying in Arm-strong is very benecial to me because I am sur-rounded by other people with my major that can help me. Amelia’s Cafe is probably one of the most popular hang outs and study lounges for Engineers like myself.

One of the most resourceful places to study on campus is Hicks Undergraduate Library. I like to study here because it is usually pretty quiet since its a li-brary, so it is easy to concentrate. I often nd myself stopping by Hicks when I’m stuck on campus and I want to work on some online homework assign-ments, or if I have something that I need to print off for my next class. Hicks always has what I need. Whether it be computers, printers, copiers, books, sta-plers, or quiet study rooms, this library has it all

Another great place to study on Campus is the Purdue Memorial Union. Unlike Hicks, the Union provides a more relaxing environment. I love study-ing here when I am on campus because there are a lot of comfortable chairs and sofas to lounge on, and if I’m hungry, all I have to do is walk down to the basement where I can nd numerous places to eat. All of the different places that I study at Purdue have really been a drastic change in my daily routine. Back in high school the only place I would ever study was in my bedroom either sitting on my bed or on my oor. I never studied at a desk, but now my desk in my dorm room at Purdue is the place where I am most efficient with my studying habits. I never studied in my spare time in high schootime in high school, but now I take advantage of all of the places to study at on campus. My Engineering major is very demanding and requires a lot of hard work, so it is crucial that I take advantage of all the re-sources and studying time that I can get my hands on. I have adapted to this heavy homework load and hard classes by nding many different places and spaces to study.
