How long have you worked in the shop for and what does a normal day involve? I have worked in the shop for 16 years since it opened in May 1998. I work from 8am – 11am and 3.30 -5.30pm. The rest of the time the shop is run by volunteers. I love meeting the staff, parents and children. Do you sell more chocolate or crisps? I think chocolate wins!! Especially around 4pm! I love chocolate although I know it is bad for me so I see you that have fruit salad as well. Is that popular? Yes the fruit salad is very popular and it sells out everyday. I see you have mini PJ Bear’s for sale, which outfit is the most popular? The doctor and the nurse bears are the most popular. Ooh I do like all the gifts that you sell here, which one is the most popular? The soft toys, especially the You-Hoos with the big eyes. Next week we will start selling loom bands and I think they will go down very well. What is your favourite joke? “Why did the clown go to the doctor?” He was feeling a little funny! What superpower would you like to have? The superpower I would like to have is over governments in the developing world to provide water, medicines, education etc for the children. PJ’ Bear chats with Frances Brown, the shop manager in the Sick Kids Friends Foundation shop in the Hospital Sick Kids Friends Foundation Registered Charity Number SC020862 ‘Frances in the wonderful Sick Kids Shop’ Mini PJ Bear and the bestselling You-Hoo ‘You will find the Sick Kids Friends Foundation shop near the main reception in the Hospital.
