The Pine Avenue Improvement Project
is almost ready to go. Funding rom
multiple sources is in place. The goals
are set and now this great addition
to Downtown Long Beach is in
the fnal stages o design.
When fnished, the Pine Avenue
Improvement Project will transorm
Pine Avenue into a cohesive centerpiece
or Downtown. It will include numerouspedestrian enhancements, rom new
street trees and planting to
creative lighting and hardscape
improvements.
The Pine Avenue Improvement Project
promises to bring a new vitality to
Downtown Long Beach through
improved connectivity and a better
pedestrian experience. Long BeachDevelopment Services looks
orward to making this
promise come true.

The area rom Seaside Way to Ocean Boulevard is the southern entrance to Pine Avenue.The extensive visual, structural and saety enhancements in this block will make thetrip up and down the hill more pleasant and invite visitors rom the Convention Centerand The Pike to visit Pine Avenues shops and restaurants.

This area is the commercial center o Pine Avenue. Here youll see great natural improvementssuch as new planting and street trees. There will be plenty o creative additions such asreurbished pedestrian lighting, new street urniture and removable bollards that allow thestreet to be closed or events. Youll also see something new or Long Beach - scramblecrosswalks that let you cross diagonally, like those in Old Pasadena.

This section o Pine Avenue transitions rom the commercial core to a residentialneighborhood. The businesses and residents in this area will fnd saety andwalkability greatly enhanced by the installation o new pedestrian lighting.This will be complemented by new street urniture, trees, landscaping, and sidewalkimprovements, plus a complete street resuracing. Removable bollards at 7th and 8thStreets will allow street closures during community events.
