A reliable pillar fire hydrant with a long-term performance guaranteedThe BS 336 “Rationnel” fire hydrant has been qualified in our SAINT-GOBAIN PAM COFRAC accredited laboratory and is manufactured in our ISO 9001 & 14001 certified Toul production site. The “Rationnel” Pillar hydrant is fully compliant with the BSEN14394-2006 standard, which is deemed as meeting or far exceeding the requirements of the AWWAC502-1992 standard. SAINT-GOBAIN does manufacture as well Underground Fire Hydrants BS750 (UFH2) with a large choice of outlets (DA COSTA, LONDON ROUND, etc..) sold now for many years throughout the Caribbean islands (Barbados, ST Vincent, ST Kitts & Nevis, Tortola, Bahamas...).

Traffic versionThe “Rationnel” dry barrel Hydrant is equipped with Breakable flanges enabling its quick repairs on site after being hit accidentally. This efficient & patented feature, located at the barrel base, can be quickly put in place thanks to our available flange kits & easy-made quick re-installation. Moreover, this pillar can be considered as almost maintenance-free… Nonetheless, spare-part kits are available with a comprehensive catalogue targeting each need.

ADAPTING ITSELF TO THE WATER TYPE…

Potable water has become highly valuable, especially throughout the Caribbean areas suffering from yearly droughts between February to June…The “Rationnel”dry barrel Hydrant can be as well provided with its SEA WATER version to operate efficiently with salt water without risk of corrosion over time…

ADAPTABLE TOOLS FOR A QUICK INSTALLATIONTo quickly & effortlessly adjust the depth level of a Pam Pillar hydrant to the feeding water line, a ‘S’ adjustment bend can be used in either left & right directions. Moreover, this handy tool comes with double fully rotatable flanges enabling a quick & perfect alignment with the existing flange piece to be connected with.

« RATIONNEL », SAINT-GOBAIN PAM KNOW-HOW FOR PILLAR FIRE HYDRANT

The valve is made up of two ductile iron parts fully embedded in EPDM elastomer complying with EN 681-1 requirements for alimentary. This technology enables a perennial tightness and thanks to the guiding parts, is allowing a far higher stability for the valve, while limiting any likely vibration & chatter.

During the closing operation, the leaktigtness effect is achieved when the valve upper plate’s lip is compressed against the seat ring. If ever the first lip is damaged, the watertightness can still obtained through the forced contact of a second embedded iron heel located in the valve’s lower plate.

Saint-Gobain PAM has developed a completely automatic draining system made with a simple orifice located in the ductile iron valve box.

A UNIQUE READY-TO-INSTALL DESIGN The PAM fire hydrant is designed with a mobile flange at the level of the duckfoot to perfectly adjust the fire hydrant direction within its environment. The smooth-barrel-without-bolt connection between the upper & lower body greatly limits any problems of corrosion attacks and the full set can be quickly installed in the ground. This ready-to install design makes it possible to speed up the completion of work and beautification of the site surroundings.

READY TO COPE WITH ANY WEATHER CHALLENGESUsing only high coating techniques to ensure a long lasting protection against corrosion in tropical weather constraints, the “Rationnel” Fire hydrant will be subjected to a double 300-micron layer application, with the first epoxy coat on the full hydrant body including buried part, and a second yellow polyurethane finishing coat on the exposed hydrant base for an increased UV protection.

The internal fire hydrant barrel will receive as well an epoxy lining to prevent any internal corrosion coming from feeding aggressive water line; The “RATIONNEL” fire hydrant is thus ready to cope with any weather or soil challenges.

A good choice on a long term period…Saint-Gobain PAM Fire Hydrants are designed to last in time without particular intervention. Their functionalities remain unchanged after many years of use. The “Rationnel” pillar fire hydrant was qualified in our COFRAC accredited laboratory.

This pillar fire hydrant offers higher performances compared to the requirements of the BSEN standard:- A number of possible opening and closing higher than the 1,000 required cycles.

- A Barrel resistent to internal pressure higher than 25 bars.

- Easily operated with torques lower than 80 Nm.- Compression type with a main valve closing against the seat with the pressure preventing any risk of water hammer.
