A Any uncommissioned creative submission from a general or specialist audience member

Q Why undertake a project based on UGC?

A Because… it’s an excellent way to get engagement from your audience

It makes for a rich web experience

You can be surprised by the quality and diversity of the submissions

Criteria

Selection criteria is set before judging takes place. Each point is weighted.

A specialised interface allows judges to rate each submission against the criteria

The submissions are shown, ranked by their scores. Adjustments can be made.

Display

The work is shown in an online gallery and the top 150 pieces are shown at Pallant House Gallery

Outcomes

Submissions went from approx. 200 to nearly 800

A wider range of people submitted, there was more engagement from community groups

Curators spent far less time selecting than anticipated

All agreed that process was more rigorous and fairer
