With more than 26 years in the business, your wedding photos could not be in better

The biggest purchase you make after saying “I do” is none other than your

dream home. Paying for a home can seriously burn a hole in your pocket and leave you with little to go by to furnish your new, empty home.

You might think that you will have to trade your vision of a modern and chic home with unattractive, plain furniture because of a tight budget, but you’re wrong.

When you drive around Kuching’s 3rd mile roundabout, you cannot miss Houstop Furniture. With a floor-to-ceiling display window, you can easily see the diverse array of modern and artistic furniture on display at this cutting edge home furnishings store.

Ah Ling the showroom manager shared that Houstop offers a modern concept of living with designs that you can see similar to those in an architectural magazine.

The latest in Houstop’s collection includes designer chairs which come in black and white. These designer chairs are perfect for your home office and dining room.

According to Ah Ling, Excel

An environmentally-friendly home sounds so far-stretched here in

Sarawak; many of us want to do good for the Mother Earth at our homes but are not sure where to start.

For the newlyweds out there, how about starting to build your ‘green’ home with an environmental ly-fr iendly floor?

The brand Inovar Floor has made its mark in the market as an environmentally-friendly f looring product where every piece is produced using materials that are from renewable resources, non-toxic, harmless to environment and health.

T h e y e v e n h av e t h e certification to prove their credibil ity: Inovar Floor was attributed as a ‘Green’ laminate f loor, accredited by Building Construction Authority, Singapore (BCA) for its prestigious Green Mark Certification.

The Floor Shop located at Ground Floor, Lot 2792, Block 10, Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce, Kuching is the only distributor for the award-winning Inovar Floor here in Sarawak.

Inovar Floor has three products; laminate, vinyl and bamboo flooring. All three are available at The Floor Shop.

The collection for Inovar Laminate Floor has eight different series; every series is unique and designed with the highest quality.

The latest innovation from Inovar Laminate Floor is Nano Shield floor series, dubbed the world’s most powerful nano flooring.

Ken Ling, manager of The Floor Shop explained that using the smallest Nano particle in the world, this laminate floor

Modern and practical Green flooring for the home

can kill germs and pollutants up to 99.99% effectiveness within seconds.

Inovar Nano Shield has non-stop anti-bacterial protection made of Nano TiO2 particles on the floorboard surface.

He continued explaining that sunlight or indoor lighting will energise Nano TiO2 particles to oxidise pollutants such as germs and bacteria and break them into carbon dioxides ions.

Here is a fact: TiO2 is proven to be physically and chemically safe. It is actually certified as a food additive in US and Japan.

With five distinctive colours namely Planked Oak, Monument Ork, Montreax Walnut Burmese Teak, and Sumatran Teak to choose from, you will not have to sacrifice the beauty of your home for the self-sanitising and self-deodorising technology.

If you prefer marble-looking flooring but the warmth of wood underneath your feet, The Floor Shop has the perfect solution.

“The Sierra Green-Tec series is unique because it looks like marble but it is not. It is laminated flooring,” said Ling.

This series is also the first laminate flooring in the world to meet Japanese Industrial Standards requirement.

It has a glossy surface finish to imitate the smoothness of marble.

If your new home is filled with heavy furniture and you prefer f loorboards that can withstand the high pressure, at The Floor Shop you can get your hands on Inovar Solid Bamboo flooring.

Bamboo has a higher tensile

strength than many alloys or steel and even higher compressive strength than many mixtures of concrete.

“Inovar Solid Bamboo is made of strand woven bamboo. It is even harder than merbau, hard maple and natural bamboo,” Ling explained.

For Inovar Solid Bamboo series, there are eight colours to choose from; everest , natural, bambosa, earl grey, earth, amazon, lava and burnt ember.

All of these colours are natural and pleasing to the eye and are suitable for both residential and commercial use.

Inovar Solid Bamboo is also extremely eco-friendly because bamboo takes only five years to reach maturity compared to natural timber which can take up to 100 years.

All Inovar Floor products are impact-resistant and resistant to cigarette burns. They are also stain-, fade-, and wear-resistant u nder nor ma l household conditions.

The biggest selling point is that their products have lifetime manufacturer’s warranty for termite resistance.

Besides providing the best flooring in town, The Floor Shop also offers wallpaper decoration and modular kitchen cabinets from Kubiq.

Catch The Floor Shop in Sarbex Total Living 2014 Exhibition at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) this Aug 22 to 24.

For more enquiries call Ling at 012-8999255 or 082-243255. The Floor Shop is open 8.30am to 5.30pm Mondays to Saturdays.

For those who are not familiar with cake pops, a cake pop is miniature ball-shaped cake styled as a lollipop.

“Cake pops are very famous nowadays because of the texture and design,” Leong said.

Create the wedding cake of your dreams at Taka

Nowadays, wedding receptions do not just comprise the sitdown table banquet. Sometimes a wedding celebration has a cocktail session held just before the reception starts.

These pretty bite-sizes desserts are perfect to serve for that occasion.

Another sweet option for your cocktail session or dessert table are mini bright-coloured fondant cakes with clean cut designs.

Taka is pushing their wedding cakes up a notch with elegant and sophisticated decorations made of fondant.

You can opt for a classy wedding cake with a staircase leading up to the bride and groom cake topper with flowers arranged along the bottom.

According to Leong, fake f lowers are normally for the

All of these designs are available in Taka’s outlets, but if customers want more they can come to the bakery’s Eastmoore branch.

But pretty cakes are nothing without delicious flavour. Leong emphasised that they focused on not only quality and design, but taste.

For fondant cakes, Leong suggested the base be made of sponge cake. As far as flavour goes, it is all up to the customer.

Customization is not a problem at Taka because Taka’s head chefs are open to designing the cake that will fulfil your wedding dream.

Taka Cake House has been in the confectionary business since 1986. They have 13 branches all over Kuching with the latest one in BDC which just opened last July 22.

Their recent products include multi-grain healthy breads such as the Multi-grain Oat and Multi-seed Earl Grey breads and Vienna loaf which are slowly becoming bestsellers.

Water dealer Oxy Trading Sdn Bhd (Oxy Trading) is offering a new made-

in-Korea alkaline water filtration system with the most affordable price tag around.

According to manager Micheal Jong, unlike conventional tap water, alkaline water helps detoxify the body by aiding the removal of normal acidic waste products accumulated from food, environment, unnatural by products and ‘normal’ process of aging.

Jong stated, “Alkaline water also acts as an antioxidant as it scavenges and neutralizes harmful free radicals. This is because it is able to give up electrons which could neutralize and block free radicals from damaging your body.

Unlike conventional tap water, alkaline water helps detoxify the body by aiding the removal of normal acidic waste products accumulated from food, environment, unnatural by products and ‘normal’ process of aging.

“People who are heavy meat eaters should consider alkaline water as it also helps alkalise the body’s pH which tends to be more acidic.

“Reason for this includes the high meat diet, high acid diet, high stress levels and exposure to toxins such as car fumes.”

The ‘Classic’ brand filtration system is a new product said Jong noting that while other filters in the market could range in the high thousands, for a promotional

period ending June, the company is offering the alkaline water filter for RM888 from the RM1200 original price.

Jong noted this would include delivery and installation of the filter and as an added bonus, Jong said the company was also offering a free ‘candle filter’ as a free gift.

For more information regarding the product visit Oxy Trading at No.96, 1st floor, Jalan Kempas, 93350 Kuching or call the office at 082-452475.
