Best New Business

Just Peachy Frozen Yogurtby CRAIG PARRISH

Brad Teeter has been doing business in Skagit County for 20 years. Last spring, he decided to start a new business, and the result is Just Peachy Frozen Yogurt, the Skagit Valley Herald’s People’s Choice winner for Best New Business Opened in 2012.

Just Peachy is an energetic, vibrantly colored shop at 1767 South Burlington Boulevard, in a bustling business park just east of Costco.

In what seems to be a one of the tasty quirks of a shop of its kind, Just Peachy boasts a variety of intriguing frozen yogurt flavors; on this early December day, Eggnog, Cake Batter, Dulce de Leche, Cable Car Chocolate, Cheesecake, Red Velvet Cake, Cinnamon Roll and Pomegranete Raspberry.

Teeter said his decision to open the shop was based on several factors.

“I have friends in the frozen yogurt business who said they’ve been successful, so it sounded like a good idea,” Teeter said.

“Plus, I have two high-school kids, and they needed jobs,” he quipped.

Teeter said the busy times come “in waves,” and that Just Peachy has become popular with students in the area.

“We get a lot of customers in here after basketball games and other school events,” Teeter said. “(Frozen yogurt) is a great treat for anybody in the valley. You can come in and get a small, healthy yogurt or you can go as big as you want.”
