Terms and Places

Malacca Strait is an important area for sea trade.

Malay Peninsula is a long, narrow piece of land stretching south from Asia. An archipelago is a group of islands (ARK-ih-PELL-ih-go).

Singapore is an independent city-nation in Southeast Asia.

northernmost of the island nations.

The Philippines has a large island at the north called Luzon. The capital city of Manila is on Luzon.

The Philippines also has a large island at the south.
