Free and open to the public. “When You Hold a Patient’s Hand… Don’t Wear a Glove” Thursday, June 9, 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Picker Family Resource Center, 3 Glen Cove Drive, Suite 2, Rockport Join Dr. Stuart Gilbert for a talk about his book, “When You Hold a Patient’s Hand… Don’t Wear a Glove,” based on his experiences as a Maine radiation oncologist. During his 33-year career at Maine Medical Center, Dr. Gilbert cared for and touched the lives of many patients and families dealing with cancer in Midcoast Maine. The presentation will focus on the theme of the book, which is that it is just as important, if not more important, to take care of the individual and family attached to the cancer as it is to take care of the cancer itself. Books will be available for purchase at the event. Free. Call 921-8950 to register. Space is limited; registration is required.
