     OVERVIEW

This is the procedure to swap out a defective Pelham Sloane Chairside unit.

PROCEDURE

Locate the new Pelham Sloane unit that was shipped to the site

      

Determine if the unit is currently installed on an arm or a cart. If the unit is installed on an arm, proceed to Section I If the unit is installed on a cart, proceed to Section II

SECTION I (Chairside on Arms)

1. Verify the serial number matches the work order

2. Remove the defective Pelham Sloane unit being replaced

2.1 Secure the spring loaded arm before removing the defective Pelham Sloane. You can do this by placing a screwdriver in the hole at the end of the arm. Do not remove this screwdriver until you have reinstalled the new unit.

2.2 Remove the cable cover on the bottom of the Pelham Sloane unit to gain access to the data and power cables.

2.3 You will need to remove the two screws (these may be Phillips head or a T10 Torx bit) located in each corner of the cable cover.

2.4 After removing the two screws that secure the cable cover, slide the cover out in order to gain access to the cables connected to the Pelham Sloane.

2.5 Disconnect the power and usb cable from the Pelham Sloane. Then completely remove the cable cover and set it aside. If this cable cover is not damaged, you can reuse it on the new Pelham Sloane unit.

2.6 Once the cables are completely disconnected from the Pelham Sloane you will need to remove the Pelham Sloane from the arm. While supporting the Pelham Sloane with one arm, remove the four mounting screws that secure the Pelham Sloane to the arm. NOTE: Stand with the spring loaded arm under your arm so it does not fly up when you remove the Pelham Sloane.

2.7 After removing the 4 screws that secure the unit to the arm, set the defective Pelham Sloane aside to be repackaged in the new Pelham Sloane box.

3. Installing the new Pelham Sloane Unit

3.1 Attach the new Pelham Sloane to the existing arm using the screws you removed in step 2.7. Tape spacer to unit. Support the unit with one arm while securing all 4 mounting screws. DO NOT LET GO OF THE NEW UNIT until all 4 screws are secure.

3.2 Once all 4 screws are secure, slide the cable cover over the power cord and usb cable.

3.3 Reconnect the cables in to the appropriate receptacle, each cable can only be plugged into one receptacle.

3.4 Reinstall the cable cover and secure it using the Phillips or T10 Torx head screws.

SECTION II (Chairside on Carts)

1. Verify the serial number matches the work order 2. Remove the defective Pelham Sloane unit being replaced

2.1 Remove the cable cover on the bottom of the Pelham Sloane unit to gain access to the

data and power cables.

2.2 After removing the two screws that secure the cable cover, slide the cover out in order to gain access to the cables connected to the Pelham Sloane.

2.3 Disconnect the power and usb cable from the Pelham Sloane. Then completely remove the cable cover and set it aside. If this cable cover is not damaged, you can reuse it on the new Pelham Sloane unit.

2.4 Once the cables are completely disconnected from the Pelham Sloane you will need to remove the Pelham Sloane from the cart. While supporting the Pelham Sloane with one arm, remove the two mounting screws that secure the Pelham Sloane to the cart. Lift the Pelham Sloane unit up off the lip of the cart mount.

2.5 After removing the 4 screws that secure the unit to the arm, set the defective Pelham Sloane aside to be repackaged in the new Pelham Sloane box.

3. Installing the new Pelham Sloane Unit 3.1 Attach the new Pelham Sloane to the existing arm using the screws you removed in step

2.5.

3.2 Ensure that the wireless antenna is attached to the new Pelham Sloane unit. If there isn’t one in the box with the new Pelham Sloane unit, then use the one from the old Pelham Sloane.

3.3 Slide the cable cover over the power cord and usb cable.

3.4 Reconnect the cables in to the appropriate receptacle.

3.5 Reinstall the cable cover and secure it using the Phillips or T10 Torx head screws.

4. Pelham Sloane Configuration and testing:

4.1 Turn on the computer by pressing the power button on the CPU.

Result: The computer will automatically log in. You will see the following window (Step 2) during your setup.

4.2 CLICK “NO” at this window when it appears:

Note: The following windows may present in any order!!

4.3 If the following window appears, click “OK” .

4.4 Click “OK” when this window appears:

4.5 The following window appears briefly. Allow this window to close by itself (usually within 1 minute).

4.6 Click “OK” at the informational screen below. Note: Please continue to refer to these instructions as you proceed through the setup. Next steps are critical!

4.7 The following Date & Time Properties window will appear. Set the date, time and Time Zone to the proper setting for your region and click OK:

4.8 Confirm that you have changed the time and time zone by clicking “Yes”. If you did not change the time and time zone, click “No” to return to the “Date and Time Properties Window.

4.9 The following window will appear. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. DO NOT IMMEDIATELY CLICK “OK”. THIS WILL RESTART THE computer. Calibration must be completed FIRST.

Calibrating the monitor adjusts its alignment. When calibrating, be careful to use a light touch, so that it will be easier for clinic staff to use the touchscreen.

4.10 Start the calibration process by clicking the icon in the top right corner of the desktop.

4.11 The first window to appear will be the touchscreen calibration. A flashing red-green X will appear in the bottom left of the screen.

• Touch and hold the center of the X until you hear two beeps and the X

moves to the bottom right corner of the screen. • Do this in all 4 corners until calibration is complete and the window closes.

NOTE: If the calibration fails, you will have another opportunity to re- calibrate after the next reboot.

         4.12 Now Click “OK” to reboot the computer.

Result: After clicking “OK” you will see a countdown window appear.

Allow the computer to restart normally.

When the computer reboots, it will log itself in and present you with two large buttons as shown below:

4.13 If the touchscreen is working properly, you can touch the button that reads “Start CHAIRSIDE System”. Note: If you need to re-calibrate the touchscreen (or missed doing so during the earlier steps) (If needed, refer to Step 4.11 for how to calibrate the touchscreen). Result: Clicking on “Start CHAIRSIDE System” will open the following screen.

4.14 Allow the countdown to complete. The computer is now connecting to the wireless network. 4.15 You will be presented with the following screen after the countdown completes. Select Live Chairside, this should bring up a login page.
