In this busy life we all have, you might not have seen the articles in the paper regard-ing the proposed opening of Mansfield Blvd

to Kinnen Blvd. If you don’t know what I am talking about, it’s the dead end at the south end of Mansfield that will allow you to get to Cross Creek without going to BBD. Great! But at whose expense? This will allow all the traffic from Hillsborough to travel on Mansfield to connect to SR56. Great!

Your CDD Board has opposed this from square one. Mansfield is a two lane road and has 5 gated villages opening up onto it. Also a shopping cen-ter, Sand Pine ES, a preschool, a middle school, a high school and soon a jr. college. Now they want to give access to Hillsbourgh to add extra traffic to this road. This is being done because a community on their side can’t build any more houses till the road opens as per Pasco County asst. county attorney.

We were promised by our Commissioners and county staff that this would NEVER happen. Our own district commissioner Pat Mulinari in an article a month ago said “Its time to open the road”. So what if it’s in our neighborhood. She doesn’t live here and it’s only going to inconve-nience some people. Well that some people are you, in MPII and Meadow Pointe 1. III & IV also. They now say that the commissioners are swinging towards doing this. Some people feel that we have to be nice to the board for they are our own. Are they going to attend the funerals that the increase in traffic is sure to bring with our residents trying to get out of their own vil-lages?

We were asked to vote for a penny for Pasco for road repair, are they going to maintain the road better than it has been in the past? At one point someone had the brilliant idea of claiming eminent domain which gives them the right to take away land from the homes on Mansfield to widen the road. Do you want to see 40 foot

tractor trailers and other commercial vehicles heading from 56 to cross creek or construction vehicles with materials so they can build the NEW homes in another county? How does that help out our tax base? For the few of us that would benefit from this short cut, I am sorry for the inconvenience that this might cause you, but a few cannot inconvenience the many.

We must stick together. We fought and won the putting of a gas station where CVS is. Who wanted all the extra traffic and tanker trucks coming this far into a residential community? We stuck together and kept Walgreens from putting in another entrance to their store to avoid a most serious traffic situation. The power of people will prevail if we stick together.

I have included the names, email addresses and office numbers of the Pasco county commis-sioners. If every one of us calls and emails these people they are going to get the message that we are a stick together community and nobody from Hillsborough County and a developer is going to push us, Meadow Pointe, around.

Resident CounCilJ a n u a r y 2 0 1 3

Someone brought up the question, why do we need a resident’s council? Anybody that has a question can come to the CDD Board Meeting (1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month/6:30pm) where there will be an opportunity to ask questions.

To me a Resident’s Council allows the residents to sit and talk about any concerns/problems and maybe help each other out. There is usually a member of the CDD available to answer any questions and bring concerns back to the Board.

A resident’s council could organize events in the community, which the CDD by law cannot. Fundraisers for these events could sponsor additional events and hopefully bring this community back to a cohesive state.

If you would like to represent your village at the Resident’s Council, please call the clubhouse at 991-5016 and speak with Sheila. Don’t sit and wait for someone else to do it. Participate and let’s get it going.

RemindeR to ResidentsWhen painting or making additions to your house or property be sure to submit appropriate paperwork through our Architectural Review Process. This process is in place so each residence will adhere to guidelines set forth in our Deed Restrictions. Villages affected by these guidelines are Morningside, Deer Run, Manor Isle, Wrencrest, Glenham, Iverson, Colehaven. All other villages refer to your HOA.

In an effort to ease the process of painting your house the Board has approved pre-selected color schemes that residents can choose from. The process has been streamlined as so…

1. Select a pre-approved Scheme 2. File Paperwork.

3. At this point you may begin painting.

4. CDD follows up to make sure pre-approved scheme has been used. Failure to do so or deviating from paperwork could result in legal action.

After a wonderful Holiday season, I would like to thank those residents who volunteered to decorate the Village Entrances. This year marked an increase from last year in resident participation. Once again thank you for your support of the community.

I also want to thank all the people who donated items for the New Jersey family affected by

Hurricane Sandy. We have had a deluge of items covering all aspects of their needs.

By the time you receive this, our Pool Project should be completed. We look forward to all the residents throughout the Meadow Pointe Community checking out our renovations & utilizing our updated facilities.
