Content: Hyaluronic acid is similar to a substance that occurs naturally
in the joints. It works in several different ways, possibly acting as a knee joint “lubricant”, pain reliever, and anti-inflammatory agent.
Post-injection Instructions: It is recommended that you refrain from any high level
activities using the joint or limb that was injected for approximately 48 hours.
Possible Side-effects: Skin Discoloration Individuals with dark complexions may experience some skin
discoloration locally at the site of the injection. Flare-Up There is also the possibility of an increase in discomfort
within 48 hours of the injection. This is called an “injection flare-up.” To avoid this, abide by the activity restrictions above.
Infection There is a small chance of infection (less than 1%). If you
notice any of these signs or symptoms, you should contact Dr. Sherman’s office immediately at 573-884-4767 or [email protected]: Redness
