Autism Advisory and Support Service Our next parent support group meeting run by AASS will be on Monday, 1

st August from 10:00am. All very wel-

come.

At last…our bathrooms will be ready Our school has had new toilet blocks built this term which are very nearly ready to be used! We have also been with-out our adventure playground all term as work has been proceeding in that playground. Teachers have seen inside the new blocks and are really happy with the size of the rooms. We are all looking forward to the new facilities and having the playground available once more. Daniel, the builder, has been very easy to work with, and most accom-modating to our requests throughout the term.

iPad donation We have been the recipients of some community generosi-ty in the last week. A local community group, Ride Daze, has donated three iPad minis to us. Three gentlemen, An-gelo, Matt and George, came to meet some of the stu-dents and were thrilled to see the difference their generosi-

ty will make for some of our non verbal students. Thank you and we look forward to catching up with you again!

NAIDOC celebra-tion We will be marking

NAIDOC week on Thursday, 21st July with an afternoon of special activities, assisted by the students of Leumeah HS. Further details following!

ment day with Beverley Park and Mary Brooksbank Schools. We will all be back at Passfield Park School ready to welcome the students on Tuesday 19

Together we learn, participate and strive every day to achieve our best.

Our charity, Passfield Park Kids Inc., was set up in 2013 to support the therapy needs of our students. If you would like to find out more about this wonderful charity, please call Cheryl (in the office).

Blue Blue Class has been excited by welcome pets to our class this term. We have two hermit crabs, named Hermie and Flash. Flash is in a blue hermit crab shell and was named as he moves superfast across the top of the table when he is brought out. Flash and Hermie live in a fish tank in the classroom and are very spoilt by the students in Blue Class who are learning to look after them. We have also continued to enjoy our trips to the Botani-cal Gardens Mt Annan where we have had a few sau-sage sizzles and visited the Plant Bank. Blue Class has some fantastic chefs - the sausages, corn on the cob and fruit are delicious!

Orange The second half of Term 2 has been a very busy time for Orange Class. PDHPE has quickly become a favourite subject for many students. Much of this term has been spent looking at the five food groups and the importance of eating a healthy, balanced diet. In snack making we have deepened our knowledge of the food groups by making all different snacks, including fruit salad and sandwiches. As a special treat for all of their hard work, Orange Class students made their own pizzas. They were delicious!

Everyone has been practising their gross motor skills at gym - and can now walk across the balance beam without help! The students have also started learning how to skip by using hula hoops to help guide their

movements. They are all getting so good at skipping! Orange Class has been learning about forces by making all different toys. The students particularly enjoyed making parachute toys (gravity), balancing birds (balance) and kites (air resistance). It has been wonderful to see their scientific knowledge growing as they play with the toys they have made. The students have also been learning how to play together. Many engage in playground games during their breaks - their favourites are 'What's the time, Mr. Wolf' and 'Hide and Seek'. Congratulations on all of your hard work this semester, Orange Class!

White White Class has finished their mural of the water cycle! It is beautifully displayed at the back of the classroom. Both teachers are very proud of their effort! White Class students began cooking this term. So far we have made scrambled eggs, pizzas, pancakes and chocolate milkshakes. Yum! White Class has continued

bowling with Pink Class showing the infant class what great primary and high school students we are. We have been practising being kind and friendly. Enjoy the photos of White class students’ working together!

Purple Fridays really are fun days in Purple Class. Each Friday we start the day travelling by school bus to Leumeah for Community Access. The students are all familiar with the class’ routine at bowling. They walk into the venue as a group, change into their bowling shoes and take turns with their friends to bowl. Purple Class are very supportive of their classmates and show their encouragement by cheering and praising their friends when they bowl. After the game, the class sit together for hot chips and a drink. We are very proud of the

way Purple Class students display good sportsmanship, listen and follows directions when out in the community. On returning to school, Purple Class participate in textiles and design lessons. All students are enjoying working on their own designs for their chair bag, exploring the characteristics of different

fabrics and practising their skills cutting and ripping fabric. It is wonderful to see the creative ideas, improvement in skills and the enthusiasm our students have displayed over the semester. Congratulations to Jayden for his outstanding artwork which is currently on display in the foyer. We hope you take the opportunity to view his talented work next time you visit our school. Wishing you a relaxing holiday,

Pink It’s birthday season in Pink Class. This term, we have celebrated Rylen’s, Nicholas’, Shahrim’s, Abubakr’s and Riley’s birthdays. We have enjoyed all of the parties, especially the fancy food, lolly bags, cakes and presents. As a class we iced biscuits - the students enjoyed dipping the biscuits into the icing sugar however their favourite part was eating them. Pink Class has continued their science unit on water. Students particularly enjoyed mixing different types of liquids in the water to see if they dissolved or not. Students then left the mixtures to see if they separated or stayed dissolved before classifying them. Pink Class is always excited to complete science experiments on water.

Red This term continues to be jam packed with activities for all students in Red Class. Everyday Mayss, Mikayla, Rebecca, Aidan, Ben, Nicholas and Vito continue to amaze us with their eagerness to engage in learning opportunities. Every student’s independence continues to grow and their confidence develops through the routine and structure of their learning experiences. Nicholas particularly liked the model transport vehicles he created. Red Class students have had a lot of fun developing their skills in fine motor, hand eye co-ordination, planning and imagination in their creative learning with Lego. All the students love building towers. When it is time to clean-up, it is wonderful to see them all work together in packing the Lego away.

Last week Ben enjoyed celebrating his birthday with his classmates.
