Q8: What would help you reduce trip miles (i.e. how much you drive to your destination and park) and help you choose to walk, bike, roller skate, bus, or

use other means of transportation? – Sample Answers

• I typically walk unless I have a lot of errands or things to pick up. • coming from Upper Terrace so have to drive • WE ALWAYS WALK UNLESS OUR GROCERY LIST IS TOO LONG OR ITEMS ARE TOO

HEAVY • Having the sidewalk cracks and street potholes repaired. Curb Cuts on corners • Better street lighting • Make access to public transportation. Bus stop near home. Frequent (every 10

minutes). a monthly bus pass of $30/mo maximum • a personal shopper or if vons delivered groceries like they do on the mainland.

Free grocery delivery to home • Too bad you don't have Lyft or Uber • The lot should have a loading only spot and vons should have the grocery to car

service • I would walk if there was a place that I could safely tie my dog. • need more bike racks. People leave their bikes there all day • Parking restrictions. • Designated motorcycle parking

Q8: What would help you reduce trip miles (i.e. how much you drive to your destination and park) and help you choose to walk, bike, roller skate, bus, or use other means of transportation? – Sample Answers, in support of driving

• There is nothing readily available when you have to go

from one job to another. other than your own golf cart nearby

• I think the 1 hour parking close to Vons might help. Bigger parking lot.

• More than 1hr parking in green , allow parking in areas of no parking

• want to be able to take my golf cart and park longer than 1 hour without getting a ticket. Shopping, eating at a restaurant all takes longer than 1 hour

• Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing.

Q9: Please provide feedback on your experience with the trial parking. Input on parking congestion, ease of parking, traffic flow, access to final destinations, walkability, day parking locations, etc. are all

welcome. Simple observations, comments, critiques, positive experiences are all welcome. However, it is appreciated if comments are based on actual use and experience. - Sample Answers

• I think the parking is working very well. The Vons parking lot has high turn around since people are only their to shop unlike the parking by the old Vons.

• Exiting the Vons parking lot is a harrowing experience. I've experienced several near crashes with vehicles (and a skateboarder) coming down Beacon. The intersection of Sumner and Beacon is dangerous to cross

• The corner of Sumner & Beacon flow much better since Von’s and especially since the addition of the road divider.

• Things are pretty good but being a resident in the nearby area and not having a personal parking spot, you(The City) should issue parking permits for full time residents with blue stickers.

• I have a car, no golf cart, except when shopping just before closing the ONE AND ONLY large vehicle spot is generally taken up by a golf cart

• because of the cart locks engaging at the perimeter of the parking lot, shoppers must limit their purchases to the amount they can carry whatever distance to their car.

• middle of street dividers have improved congestion • It would GREATLY help, as a driver or pedestrian, to have fellow drivers use

their turn/hand signals to indicate where they are going.

• The blocks nearest to downtown should not be used as all-day parking lots. • We also need bike lanes, improved areas for walking, if the city wants people to drive

less. • parking on Descanso is a nightmare since the one hour for Vons parking began. People

leave their car all weekend and there is no or little parking. The one hour parking should be changed back to all day on Catalina St.

• Tourists are the worst. They park their rentals anywhere and dont care about rules, courtesy, tickets or fines.

• It’s a super hassle to visit shops on Crescent When you have to park do far away and only get a hour

• I really don’t feel much has changed • Never find parking when I go to work it’s a 9-5 job. And it’s very unsafe for kids to walk

home from school because some people don’t respect pedestrians specially taxi drivers the never make a complete stop.

• Residents parking in front of their home should be issued a permit. Without a permit parking should be minimum of 2 hours to give you time for your errands. 1 hour is not enough.

• Living here has become intolerable. Avalon is out of control & driven by greed • Not a fan of the median put in the street next to vons • It is difficult to find a place to park to take the family to the beach.
