• The Good News: Salvation is a gift.
• Ephesians 2: 8-9 ––For by grace you have been saved through faith; it is the gift of God not by works so that no one can boast.
Why does salvation have to be a Gift?
Human nature
SIN
Romans 3:23 – All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God – God’s perfect plan
SIN—Bad News
• What is sin?– Doing what’s wrong– Failing to do right – Good Sam -- Luke 10
• Who has sinned?
• Why is sin so serious?
God
God’s LoveLove & JusticeJustice•For God so loved the world …
(John 3:16)•The wrath of God is revealed against all ungodliness and wickedness … (Rom 1:18)
God has a PROBLEM
God loves us ...
But
God is just ...
God loves us; therefore, he does not want to punish US.
But
God is just; so he MUST punish our SIN.
All religion gets the problem
God’s Solution:
Jesus Christ
Atonement2 Corinthians 5:21: God made [Jesus] to
be sin for us that we through him might be made
the righteousness of God.
