Princess Grace AwardsGala 2011 For Emerging Theater, Dance and Film Artists in America

Tuesday, November 1, 2011 | Cipriani 42nd Street, New York CityThe Princess Grace Foundation–USA (PGF-USA) hosted the 2011 Princess Grace Awards Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City and presented 21 Awards to emerging artists in theater, dance and film, as well as the Prince Rainier III Award which was presented to Julie Andrews and the Princess Grace Statue Award which was presented to Jon M. Chu, director of the highest grossing concert-themed film of all time in the U.S. Justin Bieber: Never Say Never. Oscar©-nominated actress Anne Hathaway introduced the special tribute to Julie Andrews. The Gala took place in the presence of TSH The Prince and Princess of Monaco.

The Awards for theater, dance and choreography, and film continued the legacy of Princess Grace (Kelly) of Monaco, who anonymously helped emerg-ing artists pursue their artistic goals during Her lifetime. This year’s 21 Awards winners traveled to New York City as guests of the Princess Grace Foundation-USA, where they received their Awards at the annual black-tie Princess Grace Awards Gala.

The 2011 Princess Grace Awards Gala was highlighted by the unveiling of a unique tribute to Princess Grace by Montblanc. This marked The Mont-blanc Collection Princesse Grace de Monaco’s U.S. premier - a spectacular, new tribute collection to one of the most remarkable individuals of all time, celebrated for Her iconic, timeless style; Her artistic talent as an Oscar©-winning actress and Her unrelenting commitment to helping others.

The Montblanc Collection Princesse Grace de Monaco is a continuation of the privileged relationship the brand has enjoyed with the Principality of Monaco. Consisting of fine jewelry piec-es, timepieces and writing instruments, the Montblanc Collec-tion is true to Princess Grace’s enduring style and sophistication. Feminine and elegant, the pieces from this collection are some of the most exquisite ever crafted in Montblanc’s Ateliers, rich in details and inspired by this icon’s spirit and attention to style. For the third year in a row, celebrated artist Alex Soldier, known for his mastery of precious miniatures, created an objet d’art to symbolize the Princess Grace Awards. The Award symbolically combines the three forms lauded by the Foun-dation: theater, dance, and film by using precious metals and Swarovski crystal accents. The sculpture was made for each recipient to wear as a pin, a special reminder of their Award for the world to see.

The Awards Gala also featured a Special Performance by Martha and Rufus Wainwright and a performance by Shenyang.

This very special evening brought together an eclectic collec-tion of Hollywood Glamour, New York Society and International Royalty notably T.S.H. Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco, (wearing Christian Dior) on their first U.S. visit since their July wedding and Julie Andrews (Oscar©-winning actress, Gala Honoree).
