The Community Coffee Morning was launched on Tuesday. It was a great success as people began conversations with other parents they had not met before. Please remember this will be happening every Tuesday morning-we would love to see you there.

Traffic Management

Thanks to letters and emails from parents to the Roads Minister and our local member detailing concerns, we’ve made some progress on improving transport conditions around our school.

At assembly last week Danny Pearson, our local State member for Essendon, announced an election commitment to fund a drop off/pick up zone for Flemington St. We are pursuing details of the promise but, if Labour is re-elected, Flemington St should be reconfigured so that pick up and drop off by car is simpler, clearer and potentially safer.

On Tuesday 30th Oct, VicRoads representatives looked at the Mt Alexander St intersection and adjoining streets. They are now looking at some treatments that might improve safety. Some will need planning and work by Moonee Valley Council. Grounds Master Plan

Moonee Valley City Council has awarded the school a $20,000 grant to help us start on our school grounds and playgrounds renewal. Thank you to parent Rebecca Shaw for preparing the application. We hope to see some action on the grounds masterplan in the New Year.

These works will also benefit the wider Flemington community as our grounds are open for use outside of operating hours.

We will also be contacting candidates in the upcoming State election to gauge their support for funding to allow the school to complete the Grounds Master Plan works. You may consider contacting candidates yourself.

Donohue, Lisa Palmer E: [email protected]

Last night we had our annual AGM, which was really well attended and it is with much excitement that I congratulate and introduce the new committee for 2019.

President: Lisa Palmer Vice President: Alice Toomey Secretary: Shari Manley Treasurer: Jodie Lord

What a fabulous bunch of parents and carers who have so much energy, fantastic ideas and I know will have the support of all parents and carers. THANKYOU

Thank you to the outgoing committee members Garth, Danielle, Ellen, and Janine (me) – your contribution and commitment to the school community and fundraising has been amazing – at times a little hairy but always lots of laughs!

On behalf of the outgoing committee I’d like to take the opportunity to Thank all parents and carers who have supported and contributed to the activities – together we have achieved so much to the benefit of the whole school community.

I would also like to Thank Jo, Erna and Cheryl, Amy and Amanda and Graham (the pit crew) - without whom we could not function. Always ready to help in any way, with a smile – behind the scenes you must have a good laugh – or maybe an eye roll. Just think Erna, no more emails without the attachment attached – arghhh. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! NEWS

Canteen will continue Fridays for this term – we would like to open on another afternoon if we have any available helpers (eg. Tuesday). The canteen is a fantastic fundraiser for the school, please contact us via email if you think you could help out. COMING UP

Special recess canteen – Friday 16th November. If you would like to volunteer your time or have an idea for food to sell, please contact Janine via email. Everything will be $1.00.

Teachers and parent helpers morning tea – Monday 3rd December – we will be calling for contributions and volunteers to thank the volunteers (hehe)

Next Meeting - I’ll let the new committee decide and communicate that but I know that everyone is always welcome to attend. Thank you to everyone who has supported HUB activities so far this term.
