Choosing a Secondary SchoolSecondary Schools can be viewed online by

logging on to www.redbridge.gov.uk/admissions

Parents should then register with Redbridge I by logging on to www.redbridge.gov.uk to access the Secondary School Application Form

View Ofsted inspection reports onlineView Performance tables onlineConsider the school that you would like your

child to attend and the reasons why

Choosing a Secondary SchoolRequest a prospectus from the schoolEnsure you attend the schools’ open days

and open evenings with your child (dates can be found online)

Consider your child’s skills and interestsGive your child lots of encouragement,

praise and reassurance during the transition process and throughout Year 6

Seek help and advice if needed

Applying for Secondary SchoolComplete the Common Application Form

(CAF) which can be found online at www.redbridge.gov.uk/admissions

Name up to 6 schools in order of preference (this should include your catchment school)

A Supplementary Information Form (SIF) must be completed for Foundation or Faith schools (also found online)

Common Application FormInclude any additional details on the

CAF that you feel may help your application:

e.g. any siblings who are currently attending the secondary school

any serious medical or psychological condition that affects your child that you would like to be considered. (documentary evidence from a GP or specialist must be submitted for this)

Supplementary Information FormA CAF and SIF are required if applying to:Canon Palmer High SchoolIlford Ursuline High SchoolKing Solomon High SchoolTrinity High SchoolIlford County High SchoolWoodford County High SchoolCity Gates School (Opening

Private School ApplicationsApplications for private or independent

schools should not be listed as one of the six named schools on your CAF form

Parents must inform Admissions at Lynton House of any applications being made to private or independent schools

Grammar School ApplicationsThere are two Grammar Schools in Redbridge:

Ilford County High (Boys) and Woodford County High (Girls).

Pupils are expected to take the Redbridge Grammar School Selection Test (11+)

A set number of places are available at each school

Allocation is based on the results of the 11+A SIF should be completed for both schoolsThe closing date for 11+ registrations: 30th June

2015

Out of Borough ApplicationsPupils who live in Redbridge but wish to

apply for a school outside the borough must submit a CAF to Redbridge

Pupils who do not live in Redbridge should complete and submit a CAF to the borough in which they live

A SIF should also be submitted to the borough where necessary

Special Educational NeedsChildren with an Educational Health Care

Plan (EHC Plan) will be admitted to the school that is named on their EHC Plan

The Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) will support parents’ through the application process if their child has a EHC Plan

Caterham and Beal are the two mainstream secondary schools with specialist provision in the borough

Admissions CriteriaComprehensive school places are

allocated based on the following criteria:

SEN childrenLAC childrenMedical or psychological groundsCatchment area (for on time

applications)Catchment area (for late applications)

attends the schoolOn time applicants who are outside

Deadline for ApplicationsAll applications need to be submitted by

Saturday 31st October 2015Offer letters will be issued on Tuesday 1st

March 2016Late applicants will be considered after

Tuesday 1st March 2016 Appeals will be heard from May 2016

onwards (Instructions on how to appeal will be outlined in your offer letter)
