Mission Statement We are committed to holistic development of students’ character. We endeavour to foster excellence in all disciplines including morality, intellect, athleticism, community, and aesthetics via an all-round Christian education.

Campus FacilitiesThe campus covers an area of 68,000 square feet. Facilities include 2 outdoor playgrounds, 2 covered playgrounds, 31 classrooms and 16 special rooms. All rooms are air-conditioned and soundproof. They are equipped for multi media teaching and learning. School television is installed for relaying and broadcasting live television programmes.

Some of our teaching staff undertake public duties for the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority, Curriculum Development Institute Subject Committees and Education Bureau Textbooks Reviewing Panels. Two members of our staff also serve as part-time lecturers in the Faculty of Education of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Our Principal Ms Ng Miu Yee and a Liberal Studies teacher were seconded to serve as a lecturer at the University of Hong Kong and to provide school-based support services respectively.

Medium of Instruction English is the medium of instruction for all subjects except Chinese Language, Chinese History and Putonghua.

School Curriculum The school advocates self-directed learning and generates intrinsic motivation in learning. The school devises gifted pull-outs in various domains. There is a rich English environment and a wide range of Putonghua activities to develop students’ trilingual proficiency.

Religious StudiesOur School is founded on Evangelism and Christian education. In addition to offering religious studies as a subject, Gospel Week, Morning Devotion, Bible Study Groups and Christian fellowships are also held regularly.

Moral Education Due regard is given to students’ moral development. Morning assemblies, themed assemblies, class teacher sessions, and a dual-class teacher system are implemented. These aim to enhance students’ critical thinking and foster proper values.

Extra-curricular Activities The school endeavours to nurture future leaders through various programmes with different aims and at different levels. All S1 students are required to partake in a Growth Camp whereas there is more advanced leadership training in the “Carmelian Vision” Programme for S2-S3 students and Senior Leadership Programme. In addition to the Student Union which hosts school-wide activities, we have four Houses, 12 school teams and various interest groups.

教學特色

課堂教學以幫助學生學會學習,喜愛學習為目的;也致力幫助學生建立自主學

習的習慣。本校亦著重照顧同學間的學習差異,於課堂外系統地培養資優生。

豐富的英語學習環境及多元的普通話活動,讓同學易於掌握兩文三語。

宗教教育

以基督教信念辦學,傳揚福音及幫助學生在靈育上發展是本校的宗旨。除聖經

科外,也有舉辦福音週、宗教週、清晨讀經、查經班及基督徒團契等活動。

品德教育

重視學生的品德操守,透過早會、週會、班主任課及雙班主任制等,致力發展

學生辨別是非的能力,建立正確的價值觀。

課外活動

本校著重發掘學生領袖潛能,為學生提供有系統的領袖訓練。中一同學必須參

加成長營,中二及以上同學有「密領先鋒訓練計劃」。此外,本校有學生會、

四社、十二隊校隊、童軍及不同的興趣小組。學生會除主辦校內活動外,還聯

繫校外機構,為同學提供持續及多元化的機會,發揮領袖才能。

Our Expectations for S1 Students All students at our school excel in academic studies. We have high hopes for our

students in the following areas.

1. As an Eager Learner Learning is a life-long journey. We hope our students can remain curious about their

surroundings and be active, independent and confident learners for further pursuits

and personal breakthroughs. Our public examination results are a strong proof of

our students’ love for progress in learning.

2. With Proper Life Values Our students have high self-esteem, harbour high ambitions and hold proper life

values, while being gentle, polite and sociable. All of our teachers, the Discipline

and Moral Committee, Counselling and Guidance Committee, Civic Education

Committee, and Religious Affairs Committee work closely together and complement

each other in nurturing our students’ good character.

3. With a Wide Variety of Interests Other Learning Experiences, upon students’ free choice in a range of options,

nurture students with essential abilities and attitudes beyond the classroom. In

addition, students are much encouraged to partake in external competitions not for

the prizes but the fruitful processes. The brilliant achievements in various domains

have meanwhile proven and manifested that great passion and consistent effort

bear fruit.

FIRST LEGO League Robotics Tournament (FLL)2015 FLL 創意機械人大賽

Outstanding Achievement傑出表現

Our team TINCTURES is composed

of ten students: Michael Cheung (4D),

Tina Leung (4D), Nakita Choi (3B),

Daniel Kwok (2C), Janice Lee (2C),

Angus Wong (2C), Cordelia Chan (2D),

Yan Ho (2D), Yan Tsui (2D) and Phoebe

Wong (2D). In February this year, the

team gained some great experiences

in the FIRST LEGO League Robotics

Tournament (FLL). It won both the

Robotics Performance Award and the

Grand Champion Award in the regional

tournament.

As the champion in the HK tournament, TINCTURES was invited to join the 2015

FLL Asia Pacific Championship (APC) in Sydney, Australia from July 7-13, 2015. Having

cultural and idea exchange with teams all over the world, they gained lots of eye-opening

experiences. The effort made was appreciated and recognized by the judges and the

visitors. TINCTURES outshone the other teams in Robotics Performance and was ranked

fourth in the world among 70 teams.

Outstanding Achievement傑出表現

The team’s key to success is to learn from the experiences and knowledge that the

senior members pass on. The alumni studying in university are very willing to come back

to provide training and guidance to junior form schoolmates.

機械人隊TINCTURES由10位來自不同年級的同學組成:張家寶(4D)、梁

靝竫(4D)、蔡詠蓓(3D)、郭錦濠(2C)、李諾行(2C)、黃俊泓(2C)、陳子柔(2D)、何

思欣(2D)、崔芷欣(2D)及黃安怡(2D)。同學亦參加了本年由香港青年協會主辦的

「2015FLL創意機械人大賽」,榮獲機械人表現獎冠軍及中學組全場冠軍。

作為香港區冠軍隊,機械人隊獲邀參加由澳洲悉尼舉辦的「2015 FLL Asia

Pacific Championship」比賽,跟外國隊伍進行文化及機械人技術上的交流,令他

們眼界大開。同學的努力亦獲得裁判及觀賽者的欣賞與認同。最後在機械人表現賽

這環節中獲得全球第4名,是校隊歷年來在外國賽中取得的最高排名。

TINCTURES的成功關鍵,實有賴已畢業的師兄師姐留下的寶貴經驗及知識。

師兄姐們現就讀大學,平日會特意抽空回校培訓年幼的機械人隊成員,為同學作充

足的賽前準備和練習。

機械人隊參加了「國際奧林匹克機械人大賽2015香港區選拔賽」,並獲得優

異成績。中三及中一隊伍分別奪得初中組常規賽冠軍及季軍,而本校畢業生及中

五隊伍則分別獲得高中組常規賽冠軍及亞軍,大專組常規賽則由另一隊畢業生隊

Outstanding Achievement傑出表現

The Champions and the First-Runner-Up in

our school were qualified to enroll in the 12th

Annual World Robot Olympiad in Doha, Qatar

between 4 and 9 November 2015.

In the 12th Annual World Robot Olympiad

in Qatar, our alumni team had a satisfactory

performance. They came fifth out of 40 teams

in the College Category and our alumni team

was awarded “National Instruments Innovation

Award”. Their uniqueness and creativity in the

robotic design was well-recognized.

The determined effort of the Robotics Team

fully manifests the school’s major concern: Gear

Up and Go the Extra Mile.

這三支冠軍及一支亞軍隊伍均獲得代

表香港於2015年11月4至9日參加由卡塔

爾多哈舉辦的「國際奧林匹克機械人世界

賽」的資格。當中大專組隊伍獲得全球第

五名「創新設計大獎」(Innovation Award),

以表揚他們在機械人設計上的獨特性及創

意。

同學在比賽中付出的努力充份表現出我

校主題「GearUpandGotheExtraMile」。

Seto Tsz Kin (S5) received the

Bronze Medal (Junior Group) of the

Hong Kong Olympiad in Informatics

2014/15 co-organized by the HKACE,

Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme香港卓越獎學金計劃

CHEUNG Yiu Him Hugo has successfully stood out from an applicant pool of 658 in the

1st “Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme” to be awarded the scholarship with an

honourable title “HK Scholar”. Hugo worked

hard to gear himself up and was actively involved

in school. He is now studying Neuroscience at

University of Glasgow in Scotland.

張曜謙同學得悉有此計畫,志切申

請;他努力裝備自己,積極參與校內活

動。結果在658名申請者中脫穎而出,曜

謙獲頒香港卓越獎學金,為78名首屆獎

學金得主之一,並獲授「香港尖子」的榮

譽。曜謙獲四年獎學金,現於蘇格蘭格拉斯哥大學修讀神經科學。

Home Affairs Bureau Multi-faceted Excellence Scholarship民政事務局多元卓越獎學金

WONG Pui Ling received Home Affairs Bureau Multi-faceted Excellence Scholarship.

The scholarship recognizes students who excel in sports, arts or community service. Pui

Ling, with her outstanding achievements in sports, which

include winning the championship in the 4x100 relay at 46th

International Children’s Games in Korea and representing

Hong Kong in the long jump event at the Nanjing Asian Youth

Games 2013, became one of the twenty-one awardees. She

is now studying Physical Education, Exercise Science and

Health at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

黃佩玲同學為21名民政事務局多元卓越獎學金得主

之一。該獎學金目的為表揚在體育、藝術或社會服務有

出色表現的同學。佩玲運動超卓,多次參與本地及海外

田徑比賽,包括在韓國舉行的第四十六屆國際少年運動

會4x100米接力賽中取得冠軍、以及代表香港在2013年南京亞洲青年運動會參加

跳遠項目。佩玲獲五年獎學金,現於香港中文大學修讀健康與體育運動科學。

Link’s First Generation University Student Scholarship領展第一代大學生獎學金

TAM Ka Ki won Link’s First Generation University Student Scholarship, which is

awarded to students who encounter adversity

with a positive attitude, have excellent academic

achievements and actively participate in community

service. Ka Ki impressed the selection board with

his outstanding performance in each of the above

domains. He is now studying Biomedical Sciences

at the University of Hong Kong.

譚家奇同學在困境中努力不懈,勤奮學

習、積極參與學校及社區活動,獲評審委員會

賞識,獲頒領展第一代大學生獎學金及房屋協

會頒發屬下居民文憑試成績優異獎學金。家奇現於香港大學修讀生物醫學。

Results from the 16th Consumer Culture Study Award第十六屆消費文化考察報告獎結果

In July 2015, a team of four S3 students was awarded the first-runner up in the

Junior Section and the merit prize for topic selection

in the 16th Consumer Culture Study Award. The team

members are 4A Fung Tsz Ching, 4B Au Si Long, 4B

Fung On Lee and 4D Chung Wing Sum. The topic of

their project is Journal of Desire.

心同學獲得由消費者委員會主辦的「第十六屆消

費文化考察報告獎」比賽中的初級組亞軍及優異

選題獎。他們以“JournalofDesire”為考察報告的主題,並獲邀頒獎典禮當天匯

報考察報告。

English Debating Team

Since its inception in 2002, the Carmel English Debating Team has flourished throughout the years and has expanded to comprise debaters from Form 1 to Form 5.

Apart from partaking in traditional 3 on 3 debates in local format, our debaters leap out of their comfort zone to try the much more challenging and advanced debate formats, including the World Schools style and the British Parliamentary by partaking in the Hong Kong Parliamentary Debating Summer Workshop (HKPDS) 2015, Flashpoint Workshop 2015, the Hong Kong Senior Debating Championship (HKSDC) 2015 and the Hong Kong Junior Debating Championship (HKJDC) 2015

Our Team has consistently ranked high and received a series of awards in recent years. Here are our fruits of victory.

The Hong Kong Physics Olympiad 20152015 香港物理奧林匹克

Martin Yiu (S5) received the Third Honour of the Hong

Kong Physics Olympiad 2015 co-organized by the HKAGE,

HKEDB and the HKUST.

中五級姚道聰同學參加「2015香港物理奧林匹克」

比賽,榮獲三等獎。

The Hong Kong Biology Olympiad for Secondary Schools (2014-15)香港中學生物奧林匹克比賽(2014-15)

Our S5-6 students have achieved great results in the Hong Kong Biology Olympiad

for Secondary Schools (2014-15), which was organized by the Hong Kong Association for

Science and Mathematics Education. 12 students obtained First Class Honor, 13 students

Second Class Honor and 9 students Third Class Honor. Our school has also won the

Bronze Award and the High Participation Award.

由香港數理學會主辦的香港中學生物奧林匹克比賽(2014-15)中,我校中五、

六級的同學表現出色。12位同學獲一級榮譽,13位獲二級榮譽,9位獲三級榮譽。

我校同時亦獲得整體表現銅獎及最高參與獎。

HKMO competition 2014-15香港數學競賽 2014-15

Our Mathematics Olympiad Team participated in the HKMO competition 2014-

15 organised by HKIE and

EDB. Out of more than 250

participating schools, we were

among the top 40 schools

(Outstanding Award), and

were qualified for the Final

Event. Besides, we also won

“the Second Class Honour in

the Geometric Construction

Section”.

本校在香港教育學院和教育局合辦的「香港數學競賽2014-15」中與超過250

間中學角逐獎項,取得佳績,本校除躋身首40名(獲優異獎)並進入決賽階段

外,亦於繪圖環節榮獲二等獎。

Hong Kong International Handbell Olympics 2015香港國際手鈴奧林匹克 2015

The School Chime Team and Handbell Team participated in The Hong Kong

International Handbell Olympics 2015. The contest was organized by the Asia International

Handbell Association. Our

Chime Team received the

“Silver Award” while the

Handbell Intermediate Group

received the “Most Honored

Gold Prize”.

本校手鐘隊及手鈴隊參

加由亞洲國際手鈴協會舉辦

的「香港國際手鈴奧林匹克

2015」,分別在手鐘初級組獲得「銀獎」,以及手鈴中級組中榮獲最高獎項「榮

Inter-School Basketball Competition校際籃球比賽

Our girls’ basketball team participated in the Inter-School Basketball Competition

(Division Three, Kowloon One). We played well in the competitions. Both B Grade

and C Grade teams won

the Championship. Besides,

we won the Overall

Championship and we are

qualified to enter Division

Two.

Carmel Secondary School 93rd Kowloon Group迦密中學九十三旅團卓越成績

Our Group was the Champion of Kowloon Region Carlton Trophy Competition 2014

and the 1st Runner-up of Homantin District Scout Pursuit Competition 2014.

本校童軍榮獲「九龍地域會長盃錦標賽獲全場總冠軍」及「何文田區主席盃

童軍技能比賽」全場總亞軍。

Inter-School Volleyball Competition校際排球比賽

Our girls’ volleyball team participated in the Inter-School Volleyball Competition

(Division Two) and won the C Grade Championship, B Grade 2nd Runner-up. Our team

also came 2nd in the overall result.

Being one of the top

12 teams in Hong Kong and

Kowloon region, our boys’

volleyball team participated

in the Inter-School Volleyball

Competition (Division One)

and won the B Grade 3rd

Runner-up.
