Customers renting gear for these day trips will only pay half cost for the rental gear. Family rates are also available. The local areas where you can go ski on your own- Grosser Arber in the Bavarian Forest, about 2.5 hours South-East of Grafenwoehr- Mehlmeisel about 45 minutes North of Grafenwoehr- Ochsenkopf about 1 hour North of Grafenwoehr 95694 Mehlmeisel: Klausenlift tickets range from Euro 4 to 11.Two T-Bar lifts serve a very wide slope, approximately 700 Meters long elevated between 650 and 815 Meters above sea level. Good beginner and intermediate slope. Night skiing until 22:00 Hrs. Snow machines provide good conditions. Opens December thru late February. Check for snow conditions: www.klausenlifte.de

95505 Immenreuth: Tannenberg ski lift ticktets range from 3-10 Euro. One T-bar lift. One tow rope. Great for beginners and kids. Night skiing, when open. Approximately 500 Meter slope.

95485 Warmensteinach: Skilift Ochsenkopf has two cable cars (one on the north and one on the south side) and two long ski slopes (approx. 1850Meters each). Lift Tickets range from Euro 10-18. Great place for beginners (south run is easier) and intermediate skiers/boarders. Check for conditions: www.fichtelgebirge.bayern-online.de

94252 Bayerisch Eisenstein: Grosser Arber Ski Resort offers One Cable car, two chair lifts three T-Bars and 4 Tow ropes. Day passes cost Euro 27.00 for adults, Euro 21.00 for children. Great Kids area. Slopes range from beginner to Expert. Check for conditions: www.arber.de

RentalsRentals (ski equipment, canopies, barbecues, tents, etc.) must be paid in full by time of pick-up. A late fee will be charged if the item is returned late and without notice at the following rate: 1 day late: 1 day fee; 2 days late: 1 weekend fee; 3 days late or more: 1 week’s fee minimum. Outdoor Recreation on Rose Barracks has all the skiing and snowboarding equipment for you!(Grafenwoehr has no storage or maintenance possibility). If you book a skiing trip with Leisure Travel Services, please stop by Rose Barracks Outdoor Recreation during the week to be fitted. The friendly staff will keep your measurements on file for the season, so you need to be fitted only once. Once you have booked a skiing trip, our staff just needs a call to prepare your gear and it will be ready for pick up when our bus shows up to take you on the slopes. The pick-up points for the ski trips are: The Burger King parking lot on Main Post, the Outdoor Recreation Center on Rose Barracks so we can load the skis and snowboards easily…No need to pick-up a day prior!

Weekday Hiking in the Bavarian ForestsWe will take you to fascinating areas like the Devil’s stone, Maximillian’s cave, a Roman Church and much more. Most hikes will include time for a picnic lunch before returning home. Shorter hikes will be offered for people with small children but may not be stroller friendly. Spend some time outside and enjoy some great company. Price: $10 for adults, kids are freeDeparture: Rose Barracks Outdoor Recreation Center at 10 a.m. Tuesday mornings.

KlettersteigContact us for dates and prices.Alpine hiking or Klettersteig is a European specific hiking discipline that combines hiking and climbing. Rather than climbing up a rock face klettersteiging involves “crossing” or “traversing” rock walls on an established trail while utilizing a safety harness and safety belays. Our local Klettersteig is located in the Hirshbach Valley. Approximately 45 minutes drive time from Grafenwoehr/Vilseck. The Hohengluecksteig Klettersteig has various routes guaranteed to satisfy all types of participants. From calm to extreme, a Klettersteig adventure can be customized to meet your desires.

Hunting & Fishing & Sport Shooting You are new to Germany and enjoy Hunting and Fishing: Grafenwoehr’s Hunting & Fishing program will satisfy your needs!

Grafenwoehr is the only garrison in Europe that has 2 hunting areas, 11 lakes and ponds and 3 streams!

Outdoor Recreation offers Hunting and Fishing Classes, organizes fishing and hunting events, and helps you in your transition from the States. A lot of European rules apply, some restrictions might be new to you, so we will teach them to you and help you through it.

Outdoor Recreation can sell some fishing passes to you for a day, a weekend, a season or a year.Please ask our staff for information. The next hunting class will start 1 February 2011!The off post revier hunts are to be announced!
