FELLOWSHIP BREAKFAST TODAY Once a month we will be serving a Continental Breakfast after (or before) each Worship Service. Come into Bay 1 and just enjoy, spend a little time in fellowship and a nice breakfast in an air conditioned environment. No flies, mosquitoes, humidity, heat. Let's get to know each other. The Women's Group will begin hosting these monthly breakfasts, but we sure could use some help with preparation and clean up.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CALL COMMITTEE

We are pleased to announce that during our call service held last Sunday, November 5th, Pastor Bruce Alberts was approved as our candidate to receive the call to be our next permanent Pastor.

He received the call papers and has provided this response:

Dear Members of Our Savior Lutheran Church,

With this letter I acknowledge receipt of the Diploma of Vocation and supporting call documents. I will now formally begin the discernment process to confirm the work of the Holy Spirit. I look forward to visiting with you soon.

God’s Blessings, Rev. Bruce Alberts Pastor Bruce and his wife, Suzanne will be visiting Our Savior on Monday and Tuesday of this week.

Women’s Group November Project The November 20th Women’s Group service project will benefit LifeNet4Families. Ladies, please bring in women’s toiletries such as shampoo, body wash, lotion, tampons, sanitary napkins, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, Q-tips, washcloths (use your imagination!). A collection box will be placed in the narthex. Ladies, let’s have fun with this and help those less fortunate. We have a month to collect items. This is our Thanksgiving meeting, so plan on lots of desserts with a theme. See you there!

SPECIAL CELEBRATION TODAY TO HONOR ALL VETERANS

Here's a chance to really thank a veteran -- actually many veterans of all ages and all military eras.

Honor Flight South Florida and the Florida Panthers are sponsoring a special Veterans Day weekend celebration at 2 p.m., on Sunday, Nov. 12 at the Panthers' BB&T Center on NW 136th Ave., across from Sawgrass Mills in west Sunrise.

The event is a Virtual Honor Flight with the special honorees being World War II and Korean War veterans, who because of health or other reasons are not able to go on an actual Honor Flight to Washington D.C. Those veterans, plus one guest, will be seated in a luxury suite with food through the afternoon. But the day is a celebration for all veterans, no matter the age, era or conflict.

Admission and parking are free and open to the public. It's a great event for families, Scout troops, schools and others.

Honor Flight is the charity that flies World War II and Korean War veterans on a free trip to Washington D.C., to see their great memorials. On a typical Honor Flight day, veterans visit the WWII, Korean and Iwo Jima memorials as well as the Changing of the Guard at Arlington Cemetery. Veterans return home to a big airport celebration.

Because some veterans are no longer able to travel, the Virtual Flight simulates the Honor Flight experience with a 35-minute movie showing the full tour in Washington, plus entertainment and surprises. The 13th Army Band will be conducting a patriotic concert, featuring the anthems of all the military branches. The scheduled speakers are Congressman Brian Mast, who lost both legs while serving in Afghanistan, and General Raymond Odierno.

If you would like to register a World War II or Korean War veteran for the Virtual Flight recognition, please go to www.virtualhonorflight.org. Otherwise, please invite your friends and come out for the kind of "feel good" day we all need occasionally and one you will long remember.

More information can be found on www.virtualhonorflight.org or by calling Tom Christensen, 954-224-1818.

GETTING TO KNOW OUR TEACHERS! Mrs. Oana Silion

Hi. My name is Oana Silion. I am the 18 month olds

teacher here at OSL. I'm very passionate about teaching little kids having

gone through it with my daughters as well (still very fond of those memories :)). I'm happy with the program here at Our Savior Lutheran School both as a teacher for the kids and as a parent of two of its students. I find it caring for the children and with an individualized focus. I've been volunteering and substituting since 2012 and then started teaching 18 month olds in 2015.

I am originally from Romania. I am married with a wonderful husband and have two daughters together: Evelyn age 7 and Jasmine age 9. I was fortunate to be a stay-at-home mom for several years, and be able to nurture them and watch them grow. I realized how important their early years were and the positive impact I had on their growth.

I appreciate our enlarged family here at Our Savior Lutheran school, feeling shared by my daughters as well over the years - they're still keeping in touch with all their teachers since PreK.

"Let the little children come to me." Matthew 19:14

A wake-up call The good God permits such small evils to befall us merely in order to arouse us snorers from our deep sleep and to make us recognize, on the other hand, the incomparable and innumerable benefits we still have. … With [our misfortunes], God gives us a light by which we may see and understand his goodness and kindness in countless other ways. Then we conclude that such small misfortunes are barely a drop of water on a big fire or a little spark in the ocean. Then we understand and love the words: “O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his steadfast love endures forever!” —Martin Luther
