Dear Friends,

In the midst of the COVID-19 health crisis that we are all facing, we hope you and your family continue to stay safe and healthy. Eventually, our lives will resume and we will once again enjoy the company of others. Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi has continued to serve our community by finding innovative ways to serve clients through the crisis. As the need for our services has increased, we remain steadfast in our commitment to empower people even as our community sees unprecedented job and revenue losses.

As our organization enters its 73rd year and maintains its ongoing commitment to serving the community, none of this would have been possible without your support and volunteerism. With that, we are truly grateful for your continued support during this crisis.

With over 40 programs statewide, here are a few highlights from the past year:

• Villages of Māʻili (VOM) continues its second year in assisting homeless residents on the west side of Oʻahu. So far, 240 individuals have found shelter and 43 have transitioned into permanent housing.

• Our senior affordable rental complex in Mililani Mauka – Meheula Vista – just completed Phase III of construction. Our sister senior housing project on Maui –Kahului Lani – just completed Phase I. The Maui complex will have 165 units and will include on-site CCH offices.

• Lanakila Multi-Purpose Senior Center celebrated its 50th Anniversary with alarge gathering emceed by TV news anchors Mahealani Richardson and Diane Ako. Congratulations to LMPSC for 50 years of keeping seniors healthy and active!

• The Family Assessment Center in Kakaʻako continues its services to homeless families with young children. The center has housed 122 families to date. The average length of stay until being housed is approximately 81 days.

In addition, Pacific Business News named CCH as one of Hawaii’s Best Places to work in 2019. We also successfully completed our Council on Accreditation in October.

During times of crisis, we have seen the best in others as they selflessly assist their fellow neighbors. Together, with your help, we will face the challenges and opportunities ahead, committed to our core values of dignity, compassion, and social justice, values that guide the way we carry out our services to those in need.

As a community agency whose programs provide essential services to some of our most vulnerable populations, we continue our work to meet the evolving needs of the people of Hawaiʻi. Mahalo for your ongoing partnership to serve others.

Started in 1985 by Gerry Ching, Tom Huber and Bob Tsushima, the Friends of Catholic Charities is a special group of involved philanthropic supporters. Melissa Benjamin, Doug Smith, Roger Wall, and Tracy Wong lead the “next generation” to further inspire,

engage, build awareness and support toward the good work of Catholic Charities Hawai‘i’s programs in the community.
