The owner will give us 20% of all proceeds, beginning at 4:00 p.m. through 9:00 p.m. Please be sure to thank him and his wife whenever you see them.

Second Sunday of Advent

Today, we are given St. John the Baptist to reflect on. Jesus stated that “among those born of women there has been none greater than John the Baptist” (Matthew 11:11) What made John so great? Two things in particular — his calling and his virtue. First, he was the bridge that prepared for the new life to come. His unique mission makes him truly great. He was also great because of his humility. And it is this gift that is worth pondering for our own inspiration more than any other. He saw himself as nothing other than a “voice of one crying out in the desert.” And the Word he spoke was Jesus. His humility was such that he was focused only on Jesus and desired only to point to Him. Reflect, this week, upon this humility in your own life. Do you tend to point to yourself or to Christ? Do you seek the praise of others or do you humbly point all praise and glory to God? Humility is the path that St. John the Baptist took and it is the path we must strive for each and every day. Let us pray: Lord, thank You for the gift of St. John the Baptist. May his witness of humility inspire me in my Christian journey. Help me, Lord, to always point others to You rather than to myself. Jesus, I trust in You!

El Segundo Domingo de Adviento

Hoy, se nos presenta la persona de San Juan el Bautista para nuestra reflexión. Jesús mismo declaró que “entre los nacidos de mujer no se ha manifestado uno más grande que Juan Bautista” (Mateo 11:11). ¿Qué es lo que hizo a Juan tan grande? Dos cosas en particular — su vocación y su virtud. En primer lugar, fue el puente que nos preparó para la nueva vida que vendría. Su misión única lo hace verdaderamente grande. También fue grande debido a la virtud de la humildad. Y es este regalo que es digno de reflexión para nuestra propia inspiración más que cualquier otro. Se vio como nada más que una “voz que clama en el desierto.” Y la Palabra que él hablo era Jesús. Su humildad era tal que se centró sólo en Jesús y sólo deseaba guiar a todos hacia Él. Reflexione en esta semana sobre la humildad en su propia vida. ¿Tiende a apuntarse a sí mismo o a Cristo? ¿Busca el elogio de los demás o humildemente apunta toda la gloria y alabanza a Dios? La humildad es el camino que San Juan el Bautista tomó y es el camino que tenemos que tomar cada día. Oremos: Señor, gracias por el regalo de San Juan el Bautista. Que su testimonio de humildad me inspire en mí caminar cristiano. Ayúdame, Señor, para que siempre guie otros a Ti en vez de a mí mismo. ¡Jesús, yo confió en Ti! ~ Rev. Fr.
