HEALING MINISTRY

During Jesus’ ministry “he cured many who were sick with various diseases, and he drove out many demons.” This is the case in today’s Gospel. Jesus fulfills the vision of Psalm 147: “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

Jesus knew, however, that he couldn’t possibly heal all the illness in the world. No matter how many people he cured or how many hours he ministered, there always would be more suffering people like Job who craved his healing touch. His primary mission was not to rid the world of all suffering. His “purpose” was to preach the coming of the reign of God that heals, yes, but ultimately transcends and transforms earthly suffering. With Paul, Jesus could have said, “Woe to me if I do not preach” that good news.

KEEP MOVING: How many miracles is enough? Jesus’ followers had to wonder at times. Watching their beloved Master ceaselessly greet and heal the masses, the disciples must have

counseled Jesus to take some time off. “Come on, Lord,” they might have said “You need some down time.”

But Jesus had a different vision. He had been sent to fulfill a purpose, to reach God’s people with His message, and every moment was precious. Who had time to rest? Today the church needs to feel that same passion for sharing God’s love and salvation with the world. There’s no time to waste. God has a new city, a new world for us to conquer every morning. Let’s get out there and keep moving!

WHAT TO DO IN A LONELY

PLACE: "And in the morning, a

great while before day, he rose and

went out to a lonely place, and

there he prayed." Mark 1:35

How do you begin your day? Our Lord, early in the morning, sought out a lonely place to pray. He spent time in solitude in fellowship with the Father. He found renewal, refreshment, and was able to seek the Father's direction for the strenuous duties which awaited him that day. It was Jesus' custom to pray alone early each day. In that activity, he set an important example for us. To be alone with God at the beginning of each day is to find renewal and empowerment for the challenges we will meet from hour to hour. The promise of the Scripture is this: "Things beyond our seeing, things beyond our hearing, things beyond our imagining all prepared by God for those who love him: these it is that God has revealed to us through the Spirit." (1 Corinthians 2:9.)

PRAYER FOR HEALTH:

Almighty God, who is the only source of health and healing, the spirit of calm and the central peace of the universe; Grant to us, your children, such a consciousness of your indwelling presence, that we may have utter confidence in you. In all pain, in weariness and anxiety may we throw ourselves upon your besetting care, that knowing ourselves fenced about by your loving omnipotence, we accept your gift of health, strength and peace.

Catholic Schools: Communities of

filled education for students nationwide. National test scores, high school graduation rates, college attendance and other data show that Catholic schools frequently outperform schools in both the public and private sectors. Notre Dame School is now enrolling for Kindergarten for 2015-16! Interested in learning more? Contact our principal, Terri Sobieralski, at 342-2502 or [email protected] to set up a school tour.

Thanks to the generosity of many, Notre Dame School is able to provide several payment options that can be structured to the family financial situation, making Catholic school tuition more affordable than many think. HELP WANTED

We are currently looking for volunteers to support our Children's Liturgy ministry during the 11AM Mass on Sundays. Children's Liturgy is an opportunity for our kindergarten-4th grade children to hear the Word proclaimed and explained in a way that they understand. This is a favorite for children and parents. It allows everyone to get the most out of Mass and connect with the Gospel. We need help with crowd control as well as leading the liturgy. This is a team effort and all the training and information you need will be provided. We are looking for help on a weekly basis, monthly basis, or just a few times throughout the school year. Please prayerfully consider if this is a ministry you might be interested in supporting and contact the Religious Education office or Pamela Meuter at 566-0425.

Everybody loves getting presents and the Holy Spirit is bringing some for you! Join us this Sunday at Noon for our meeting on the Sacrament of Confirmation! Everybody gets a gift!!!

Next week: the Bread of Life or just bread? Join us for a discussion on the Eucharist.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITY: We will be joining our Knights of Columbus on Valentine's to serve a very special dinner to the people in our community. Partial proceeds will go to support our youth ministry program. Contact Rob if you would like to participate!

CORE MEMBERS NEEDED! Have you been wishing you could be a part of the fun with ODS Youth but you have graduated high school? No problem! We are always looking for adults age 18 and over to help lead the teens of our community closer to Christ! Come love our teens and share your relationship with Jesus! Contact Rob Sheridan for more information!

DON'T MISS A WORD!

The new hearing assistance program is now

available for anyone in the community who has a

need to hear more loudly or more clearly. The

system consists of two parts: the transmitter, which

is behind the altar, and the radio receivers, which

will serve one person's needs at a time. How does it

work? Really well! If you would like to try it out or

want more information, please see the Mass

Coordinator for your Mass. He or she can provide

the device you will need and assist you with

returning it after Mass. If you don't know your

Mass Coordinator, simply ask either a greeter or

one of the ushers.

The new hearing assistance system has three styles

of earpieces: earbuds, headphones, and inductive

neck loop. For those not wearing hearing aids, the

headphones or the earbuds work best. For those

with behind the ear BTW hearing aids, you may

find the inductive neck loop will work with the

“telephone” setting of your hearing aid. For those

with completely in the canal (CIC) hearing aids,

your may find the headphones work best as they fit

over the ear so these small devices can pick up the

sound.

Some trial and error may be needed to find the

best solution for you, and it is recommended that

you come early to try out each solution first. The

radio receivers have volume control wheels to

adjust for the most comfortable sound level. You

can adjust as needed during the ceremony.

Welcome to full participation with the Our Divine

Savior family!
