Theblue-greenpondsarefullofbluegill,catfish,largeandsmallmouthbass,shiners,greensunfishandtriploidcarp.

“Ifeedanythingthatcomesalong.Theformerownerofthelandwasraisingcatfishwhenwepurchasedit,sowecontinuedtofeedthem,”Eileenmentioned.“Thecarparetheretokeepthewatercleanandgeneticallyalteredtonotbeabletomultiply,sincenormalcarpareaninvasivespe-cies.”

ItislittlewonderthatthishavenforallthingsnaturalandwildhasreceivedtheNationalWildlifeFederation’sCerti-fiedWildlifeHabitatdesignation.Infact,thehomeinnearbyColdwaterfromwhichLeonandEileenhadmovedalsoreceivedthisspecialcertification.

Angela Rowlett is engaged to WKMS radio’s Chad Lampey. In October they will spend their hon-eymoon touring Ireland. She pointed to a poster of photos from her loft. “My fiancé made this poster by shooting photos of items here in my home. If you study the poster, it says ‘I love you.’ He gave me this when he proposed.”

In2005,theLovettsboughtthebuildingthathadbeenadrugstoreonthemainfloorandabeautyshop

upstairs.“Ihavealwayslovedhistory,oldhomesandantiques,”Angiesaid.“Wehadboothsat

fleamarketsforalongtime.Westartedrenovatingtheupstairs

withmyhusbanddoing90percentofthelabor.Hedoesthework,Idothedecorating.”Theymovedintotheloftin

toopenBlueMoonAntiques.“Lookingforantiquesisan

aspectoftreasurehunting,”Lovettsaid.“Weneverknowwhatwe’regoingtofind.”Shepointedtoabustonthetable.“WefoundthatinMichigan.Wetravelquiteabittolookforthings,goingtostores,fleamarketsandauctions.Some-timesweenduptakingturnsdriv-ingallnightwithourpurchases.Iknowwearetoooldforthis.”

Atthetopofthestairsenteringtheloftistheden,aserene,verycomfy-cushyroom,decoratedwithmostlyshadesofwhite.Lovettrevealedthesecretbehindtheextremelytallwindowtreat-ments,explaining“Icouldn’tfindthelookthatIwantedforthewindows.Ifoundking-sizesheetswithwide,khakistripesatPotteryBarnandusedaheavyfabricforlining,thenImadethewindowtreatments.”

Sixrichlyvarnishedstepsinviteguestsfromthedenuptothekitchen/diningarea.Thebar,madefromthebottomofanoldchurchpew,isbracedwithporchcor-bels.Thediningtable,originallyfromanoldstore,seatsatleasteight.Ashelfwithamirroraboveitaccentsthebrickwalls.Bothitemshavepaintpeeling.“Idon’t

wantthingstomatch.Idon’tlookforperfectfinishes.Therewasatimewhenstrippingandrestoringfurniturewasin.Now,notfinebutwornisthelook.Itaddsdepth.Ifitdoesn’thaveafewbumpsorscrapes,Idon’twantit,”shesaid.heover-sizedbathroomisa

Most people would never guess thatmymeasurableworkethicbeganat9yearsofageonbothourfamilyfarms,whereDaddytaughtmehowtoworklikeamansoasnottobecomeadesperatewoman.Hesaid,“...desperatewomenstarvetheirsoulsandforfeittheirlives...”

When facing a fork in life’s road,Igenerallyraisemyhandstowardheavenandsay,“Really?”becauselaughterandhumoraregoodmedicine,andprimesmyhearttolistentothenextinstruction.It’snoteasy,butit’sworthit!!!

Best book I’ve read (re-read) this year is“FacingYourGi-ants”byMaxLucado.Theywon’tjustgoaway...wehavetobelikeDavid.Giantsonlyseemtohavepower...they’renotincontrol.

The best job I ever had as a kid washelpingmymotherhelptheelderlyanddisabledgetthingsaccomplishedintheirhomes.Canyouimaginealittlegirlwithpigtails,bangsandlotsoffreckles,beingexcitedaboutremovingwallpaper,primingthewalls,andreapplingnewwallpaper?SMH.

My favorite pet wasmysonMarty’sdogEbony,ablacklab.Hecouldopengatesandmakemeallmushy.Istillmisshim.

When I have ten minutes to myself,Ireadsomethingthatwillreplenishme,thenIsinglikeI’mgettingtheroyaltychecks.

When I close my eyes at night,thefirstthoughtthatgener-allycomestomeis...didImakethedayaboutmeorsomeoneelse?

My life would not be complete if it were not forfavor...andno,itisn’tfair.

No one (on earth) is more important to methanmyfamily.
