She was known for her powerful voice and her rhythm-centric musical style. She was the most popular Latin artist of the 20th century, gaining twenty-three gold albums during her career. She was renowned internationally as the "Queen of Salsa", "La Guarachera de Cuba", as well as The Queen of Latin Music. She was an ambassador for the variety and vitality of the music of her native Havana, and after the Cuban revolution she became a symbol of artistic freedom for Cuban American exiles.

LGBT SCHOLARSHIPS | With the goals of Leading & Empowering the LGBT community, UC|CU is proud to continue the legacy of the Whispering Angels Foundation with the UC|CU Anita Priest Memorial SCHOLARSHIP founded by Sandra Holiday in honor of her late partner, a legacy program that provides a scholarship for the LGBT community to advance their education in the areas of the Arts, Design & Education. This year we have also secured a partnership with Beauty Schools of America to provide full scholarships in various fields of Cosmetology. So far for 2017, we have given out over $50,000 in scholarships.

PRIDE U 2020 | PRIDE U 2020 is a three year Community Initiative Program & Social Challenge, led by Unity Coalition|Coalición Unida, to better Engage, Inform & Inspire millennials to take on leadership roles in the LGBT community to better serve, & effect positive change for those disenfranchised and underserved. Taking Community Resources, Mentors & Social Discussions to College Campuses, Helping to create and expand Pride Clubs across Dade & Broward, Social Settings & wherever the need is – Informing, Engaging & Inspiring LGBT millennials to Lead in creating a New Rainbow of Activism, Social Change & Leadership.

BECAS Para Estudiantes LGBT | Con los objetivos de Liderazgo y Empoderamiento de la comunidad LGBT, UC|CU se enorgullece en continuar con el legado de la Fundación Whispering Angels fundada por Sandra Holiday en memoria de su compañera, la reconocida diseñadora de interiores Anita Priest, el programa de becas conmemorativas Anita Priest Memorial SCHOLARSHIP ofrece becas para la comunidad LGBT para avanzar en su educación en las áreas de la Artes, Diseño y Educación. Este año hemos agregado una asociación con Beauty Schools of America para proporcionar becas completas en varios campos de la Cosmetología. En 2017, hemos presentado mas de $50,000 en becas.
