!!!!!!Dear Friends, Psalm 96:1-3 says, “O sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth.Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples.” Presbyterians have always been known as a singing people. Over the past 183 years, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and its predecessors (The United Presbyterian Church in the United States of America and the Presbyterian Church in the United States) have published eight hymnals, including our newest, Glory to God. That averages out to a new hymnbook every 22.88 years, or just about the amount of time since the blue Presbyterian Hymnal was published in 1990. On Sunday, October 26 we will celebrate and dedicate our new hymnal, Glory to God with singing, prayers, and congregational involvement. At the same time, we will retire and give thanks to God for the faithful witness of the blue Presbyterian Hymnal. It will be a glorious day as we dedicate Glory to God!

! ! In the pew racks and in this newsletter, you will find order forms for purchasing hymnals in honor or in memory of someone (or you may purchase a copy for your personal use). The hymnals cost $25 per book. This includes the church name stamped on the cover. You are invited to dedicate one or more hymnals in memory of or in honor of someone special, and to include the favorite hymn(s) of the people you are honoring. Karla, Vera, the choir, and I are very excited to introduce this new worship resource to you and to begin using the hymnal in worship. The new hymnal contains 248 more hymns than our blue hymnbook — a wonderful variety of much beloved hymns and beautiful new songs. Psalm 104:33 says, “I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being.” Colossians 3:16 says, “with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.” Glory to God will help us do just that as the Wallace Presbyterian Church!

In Christ, !! !!!

!!!!!Wallace Presbyterian Church (USA) !

Call for Suggested Nominees 2014 !

The Congregational Nominating Committee needs your help! We want your suggestions for nominees for election of five (5) people as elders for the session, Class of 2017. As the Nominating Committee works to bring a balanced slate of officers to the congregation, they will give consideration not only to those who have served faithfully before, but also to those who have not held office. We also believe it important that the members of the Session are broadly representative of the congregation. Your prayerful assistance is most important. !

The deadline for suggestions is October 12, 2014. ! On the suggestion form at the bottom of this page, please write the person’s name along with a brief statement of his or her qualifications. As you think about potential nominees, ask yourself, is the person active in the life of the church? Does he or she have the skills appropriate for the task? To submit a suggested nominee, place this form in the offering plate or return it to the church office.

Suggestions for Elders (Please write the person’s name and a brief statement about his/her qualifications.) !

I would like to suggest: ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
