Guest speaker Angelica Trevino Baccon, senior design associate, SHoP Architects will talk about how her prolific firm is redesigning the East River Esplanade in Manhattan with the completed Pier 15; construction in the works to extend parkland under the FDR; Pier 17 at the South Street Seaport; and two residential towers connected by a sky bridge in the East 30’s. She will also talk about her firm’s work in Brooklyn, including SHoP’s master plan for the Domino Sugar Refinery site to transform it into market-rate and affordable housing, space for creative offices, neighborhood retail, and community spaces. Claire Weisz, principal, WXY Architecture + Urban Design will discuss the East River Blueway Plan, which envisions a new waterfront from East 34th Street down to the Brooklyn Bridge in Manhattan, and her firm’s completed work on WNYC Transmitter Park in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, that includes an esplanade and a pedestrian bridge built across a historic ferry slip and restored as a wetland accessible to visitors.
