Once upon a time … and still is today

0My grandmother’s name is Cira, she was born on January 29 ,1933, in Naples. She lived there until few months ago.

0My name is Erika, I was born on July 3,1998 in Naples. I live in Baronissi a little town near Salerno.

0 When she was six, my grandmother’s mum told her that she had to start school but her father didn’t have to find out.

0 She woke up at 7:00 a.m. and she stayed there until 6:00 p.m.

0 After she returned home, played with her sisters and at 7:30 p.m. she had dinner. She couldn’t watch TV so she went to bed.

0 One awful day her father discovered their plans and he ordered her to leave school.

0 When I was six ,my mum and my father enrolled me at elementary school.

0 School started at 8:30 and finished at 12:30 p.m. I returned home, I had lunch and I played with my mum and my sister.

0 At night I watched TV and at the end of day, at 8:00 p.m. I had dinner. At 9:00 p.m. I went to bed.

World War II0. My grandmother lived a terrible

period. When she was six World War II started so she had to face the hardships of war. She said about the war: << When we heard the sound of the siren going, we ran barefoot through the streets. We hid in holes until we realized that it was all over>>.

0 When she was fifteen , her hobby was embroidery.

0 She embroidered from morning to night, but , whenever she could, she met her friends and spent long afternoons with them.

0 She didn’t have a phone and she only communicated through letters.

0 My hobby was and it still is dancing.

0 I started dancing when I was a child and this is, in my opinion, the best thing in the world.

0 I practice dancing everyday, but in my freetime I like meeting my friends, taking photos of us and speak about moments of my life.

WORK…and…0After a few years, my grandmother decided

to open her own embroidery workshop at home because her family needed financial help. She worked all day long and every day of the year, for many years until she found the love of her life, my grandfather, Vincenzo.

This is our story ,and this is me and my

grandmother today!
