The production of a parallel report for the Co-ordinated Data Improvement Plan is submitted to the Information Leadership Group once each quarter, which is escalated to the Board

Project to monetise aspects of customer satisfaction. Directly reporting to the Chief Analyst, the project is to commission a piece of contingent valuation research to monetise aspects of journey quality for road users, an area that has not been explored before in the UK roads industry. This role involves liaising with external stakeholders and regulatory bodies in order to be able to develop appraisal methodology, with a view to use this to lead on a wider customer programme over Roads Period 1. This will involve briefing and leading a team of specialist economic consultants to be able to produce this research and analysis, and then work with a team of internal appraisal specialists to be able to implement changes into appraisal methods.

Provide analysis and feedback to be able to improve the delivery plan, which must be updated annually

Providing check and challenge to corporate reporting, or the lack thereof to ensure quality and punctuality of deliverables in the company and working collaboratively with Corporate Assurance to foster a transparent and more accountable culture across Highways England

Maintaining on-going relationships with business owners in order to sustain and evidence quarterly reporting

Responsible for the development and production of the Corporate Management Plan, outlining the deliverables over the coming financial year at a corporate level. This sets the corporate priorities for the financial year

Acting as a conduit between internal stakeholders across the majority of directorates, and facilitating conversations with external stakeholders (the Department for Transport, the Office for Rail and Road and Transport Focus)

Creating new opportunities and business relationships, to help define the new role of economist within the organisation and set a foundations for future graduate recruits

Work alongside the License and Monitoring team to align reporting and to drive process reviews and improvements. This helps to streamline interaction with the company and internally in Monitoring and Regulation, leading to time efficiencies and improved communication of information.

Government Economic Service, Office of National Statistics - Cardiff Student Economist (September 2013 - September 2014)

Full time one year internship based in Newport, Wales, working on Capital Stocks, one of the highest public profile and demanded outputs from the office. This report is available to the public.

Undertook statistical analysis of the UK’s capital stocks data, provided forecasting on future figures and economic analysis on the cause for the trend changes over time. This helped to inform both public and private sector financial decisions as a key economic indicator. In particular this information was used in conjunction with HM Treasury estimates to help inform the Bank of England base rate decisions.

Undertook a complete review of the Capital Stocks process and the Perpetual Inventory Method model used to generate the final data output, and helped to redesign elements to make the process more efficient and accurate in line with European methodologies to enable better practice in line with other leading European statistical offices

Involved in interpreting and presenting relevant global and national economic releases and events interpreting its impact on the wider UK economy

Worked within and lead a team of senior analysts in a mercurial environment with multiple priorities and tight deadlines
