Administrative Human Resource (HR) Coordinator Position Description
Summary Enhance your career working for an exciting, dynamic public media company. Nevada Public Radio, the sole NPR affiliate in Southern Nevada and publisher of Desert Companion magazine, is looking for an energetic, self‐motivated administrative professional specializing in HR‐related responsibilities. The successful candidate is poised, dedicated, ethical, tactful, detail‐minded and well‐versed in all areas of human resources. Working very closely with the Business Manager, President/CEO, outside benefits administration organizations and external HR consultant, the Administrative HR Coordinator will carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment and employment law and FCC EEO compliance. This position is a member of the Administration department and will assist in all areas of administration in a proactive, team‐based environment. The Administrative HR Coordinator reports directly to the Business Manager.
Duties and Essential Job Functions The Administrative HR Coordinator must be detail‐oriented and personable, articulate clearly and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational and time management skills and computer skills.
Under the direction of the Business Manager and President/CEO, administers various human
resource plans and procedures for all organizational personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and maintains the employee handbook.
Under the direction of the Business Manager and President/CEO, administers the compensation program and monitors the performance evaluation program. Works with Department supervisors on orientation reviews, performance improvement plans and policy violation write‐ups.
Maintains the Payroll, HR and Timekeeeping computer system (Paylocity) from applicant to termination, including, but not limited to, setting up and closing out employee user accounts following organizational protocol, entering and uploading all employee documentation, updating personal and work information, service records and pay rates, assigning employees to proper groups as designated by supervisors and organizational protocol, coordinating and confirming employee policy acknowledgments, entering budget information for payroll and hours worked, monitoring missed punches and routing for approval, maintaining time‐off calendar following organizational protocol, updating organizational chart and employee directory, reviewing timecards and time‐off requests to ensure accuracy and appropriate approval, and ensuring that all records are complete, correct and up‐to‐date.
Acts as liaison for the Nevada Public Radio benefits administrators, Cragin & Pike, and other benefits representatives by coordinating benefits administration for all staff members,

including, but not limited to, scheduling new hire benefits enrollment meetings, scheduling open enrollment meetings, completing online onboarding on benefits websites, directing staff member’s benefits inquiries to appropriate representative, and recording benefits elections in Payroll, HR and Timekeeeping computer system (Paylocity); manages the COBRA process to ensure compliance with regulations and timely receipt of documentation and payments.
Prepares and maintains all elements of the FCC EEO report and ensures compliance with all related regulations; maintains required documentation in a confidential and organized system.
Manages and responds to Worker’s Compensation and Nevada Unemployment claims ensuring proper documentation and follow up.
Working with the HR Consultant, develops, implements and maintains policies and procedures related to compliance with local, state and federal government regulations as it relates to employment and working conditions and makes recommendations for policy and procedural changes related to compliance (i.e., OSHA, ACA, FMLA, FLSA, Title VII, etc.).
Following organizational policy and procedures, coordinates and conducts recruitment efforts for all staff positions, interns and temporary help; maintains Applicant process in Payroll, HR and Timekeeeping computer system (Paylocity); assists Department supervisors with position descriptions and hiring process; schedules candidate interviews (and coordinates travel, if necessary); performs reference calls and initiates background checks.
Serves as the liaison to the HR Consultant (PRISM Global Management Group) for all items related to employee relations.
Assists with federal reporting requirements related to the organizational diversity program and staff demographics.
Assists with the development and implementation of employee programs (reward, work/life balance, retention, etc.); maintains implemented programs and monitors and evaluates for effectiveness and value.
Serves as an ambassador of Nevada Public Radio and its mission to enhance the quality of life and foster civic engagement by informing, educating and inspiring our growing audiences.
Assists in all administrative tasks including, but not limited to, sorting mail, covering reception desk and answering multi‐line phone system, organizational mailings, staff and Board/Committee meetings and organizational events, and other duties as assigned.
Works within a team‐based collaborative department to achieve department and organizational goals; participates in department meetings and the development of department goals, objectives and systems; recommends new approaches and policies and procedures to continually improve on the efficiency and effectiveness of the department and the organization as a whole.
Participates in fundraising activities as needed; may require overtime hours outside of normal working hours.

Must be able to communicate in a clear, concise, and effective manner in person, in writing and
over the phone; strong interpersonal skills are required. Working knowledge of all areas of employment law and governing regulation. Must be able to appreciate and respect diverse cultures and maintain a cultural awareness with
all stakeholders of Nevada Public Radio.

Must be able to maintain a calm, professional demeanor at all times. Must be computer proficient—particularly in Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and able to
learn the Payroll, HR and Timekeeeping computer system (Paylocity) quickly. Must be organized and possess a high level of administration ability to effectively manage files,
gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. Must be able to manage multiple priorities, deadlines and personnel seamlessly. Must be a critical thinker and able to evaluate situations from different perspectives. Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques. Skilled in time management, organizing resources and establishing priorities. Ability to actively contribute as a team member and foster a cooperative work environment.
Qualifications Associates Degree or higher in Human Resources Management or comparable relative work
experience. At least three years of administrative experience in the area of HR. Fluency in English, second language fluency is a plus. Experience with HR information systems like Kronos or BambooHR is required, experience with
Paylocity is preferred. Driver’s license and insured vehicle that may be used for station business. Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs without assistance and work consistently for long hours sitting
down. Must be able to work a consistent 5‐day work week, arrive at work on time and have some
flexibility in scheduling; although minimal, during peak periods, must be able to work hours outside of normal office hours and must be able to attend conferences/seminars out of the area if needed.
Salary
Commensurate on experience; full‐time, non‐exempt position with excellent benefits package.
