To organize this festival, dedicated to one single instrument, the oboe, it was necessary to choose a clear perspective and very precise priorities.Such a festival has hardly be seen in Italy, but is quite common in other European countries.The presence of five extraordinary musicians who will perform during the two days of the 24th and 26th of March 2017 and which have accepted the invitation to play in the four concerts planned, allows the unique opportunity to simultaneously listen to the different sensitivities of the artists involved and to perceive the conceptions that lay at the heart of the construction of the instruments.In fact, in parallel to the concerts, the manufacturers will present their oboes, which we will listen to during the concerts. All five artist will always participate together at the different kinds of concerts in programme: concerts with music for Oboe Solo, for Oboe and Piano, for Oboe and Cembalo and, finally, for Oboe and String Orchestra.The exhibition of oboes by four manufacturers provides a short history of the oboe himself and of the technological developments in its construction during the last decades.During the Festival it will be possible to meet all its protagonists: the music composed for oboe, the artistes playing and the manufacturers building this instrument.

JEAN-LOUIS CAPEZZALI began his piano studies at the age of 9. Five years later he knows the oboe in the class of Gaston Longatte at the Conservatory of Versailles where he won the gold medal and the Prix d’Honneur. In 1979, at the age of twenty, he got the qualification to the oboe and the same year was appointed First oboe soloist in the Orchestra of the “Concerts Lamoureux” in Paris.In 1984 he became principal oboist Supersolista Philharmonic Orchestra of Radio-France. Since 1998 he teaches at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Lyon where he is also head of

the department of Woods. In 2008 he inaugurates a new class at the Conservatory of Lausanne. As a soloist and chamber musician he collaborates with the best orchestras and chamber of the world such as the Philharmonic Orchestra of Radio-France, the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, the Chamber Orchestra of Toulouse, the Symphony Orchestras of Taiwan, Bordeaux, Montpellier, the Chamber Orchestra of Japan and others.

PAOLO GRAZIA received his diploma with highest grades and honours from the G. B. Martini Conservatory of Bolo-gna. As a member of the Bibiena Quintet he won the sec-ond prize (first prize not awarded) at the 42nd Internation-aler Musikwettbewerb of Munich, and the First Prize at the 4th International Oboe Competition of Tokyo. As a soloist he has collaborated with conductors such as Inbal, Kaky-dze and Gatti. Grazia is currently Principal Oboe Soloist of the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna. He col-laborates with prestigious orchestras such as the Cham-

ber Orchestra of Europe (also as a soloist), the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Solisti Veneti, Orchestra da Camera di Mantova, Orchestra di Santa Cecilia and the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala. Regularly he is guest in Japan for concerts and masterclasses and is Professor of oboe at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole. He has recorded numerous CDs for Agora` and Tactus.

ARNALDO DE FELICE Nel 1984, non ancora terminato gli stu-di, vince il posto di Primo Oboe dell’Orchestra sinfonica “Arturo Toscanini” di Parma. Due anni dopo si diploma con il massimo dei voti al Conservatorio “G. Martini” di Bologna. Perfeziona i suoi studi con Lothar Koch presso il “Mozarteum” di Salisburgo. In veste di solista, Arnaldo De Felice si è esibito alla Carnegie Hall di New York, alla Tonhalle di Zurigo, al Teatro di Stato di Norimberga, Tea-tro Comunale di Modena, Teatro Farnese di Parma, Teatro Comunale di Ferrara per “Ferrara Musica”, presso la So-

cietà dei Concerti di Milano, l’Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna, la Società dei Concerti di Bolzano e altri. Ha vinto il 1° premio del Concorso di Composizione Te-atro Minimo del Teatro Opernhaus Zürich e dell’Opera di Stato di Monaco. Le sue composizioni sono state dirette da straordinari Direttori d’orchestra quali Enrique Mazzola, Gustav Khun, Kent Nagano e da interpreti come Ingolf Turban, Conrad Steinmann, Sabina von Walther, Andrea Silvestrelli, Novus String Quartett, Yves Sa-vary.in Venice in 2006 collaborating with the re-known choreographer Ismael Ivo.

GREGOR WITT Nach Engagements als Solooboist der Mecklenburgischen Staatskapelle Schwerin, der Komi-schen Oper Berlin sowie der Staatskapelle/Staatsoper Berlin ist Gregor Witt seit 2015 ordentlicher Professor für Oboe und Kammermusik an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock, an der er bereits seit 2004 erfolg-reich unterrichtet. Gregor Witt gastiert als Solist im In-und Ausland, u.a. bei den Berliner Philharmonikern, dem NDR-Sinfonie-Orchester, der Sächsischen Staatskapelle Dres-den und den Münchner Philharmonikern. Als Kammermu-

sikpartner musizierte er mit Daniel Barenboim, David Geringas, Julia Fischer, Klaus Thunemann, Marie Luise Neunecker und v.a. Gastspiele führten ihn in fast alle wichtigen Musikzentren Europas, nach Japan, Nord- und Südamerika und Israel. 2015 erschien seine erste Solo-CD „my oboe“, auf der für den RBB Berlin u.a. mit Daniel Barenboim Robert Schumanns „Romanzen für Oboe und Klavier“ einspielte

The artists - JesÚs fUster PalMer, JürGen stOrk

JESÚS FUSTER PALMER realiza sus estudios musicales en el Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Valencia con el profesor Francisco Salanova, obteniendo los Premios de Honor Fin de Grado Medio y Grado Superior en la espe-cialidad de oboe. Amplió sus estudios musicales en el Rótterdam Conservatorium (Holanda) con el profesor Em-manuel Abbhül donde obtiene la máxima calificación en virtuosismo y posteriormente asiste como profesor invita-do. Obtiene el Primer Premio Nacional “López Chavarri” de Música de Cámara junto a la pianista Mª Dolores Costa,

además del Diploma de Mérito de la Academia Chigiana de Siena en esta espe-cialidad. Ha actuado como solista de oboe en la Orquesta Sinfónica de Valencia, en la Orquesta Sinfónica Isla de la Palma, Orquesta Municipal de Valencia, en la ONE, en la Orquesta de la Radio Bavara, Orquesta del Palau de les Arts y en la Joven Orquesta Nacional de España de la que fue miembro integrante en el perio-do de su creación. Forma parte del Quintet Cuesta y es profesor del Conservatorio Superior de Música de Valencia. Ha realizado diversas grabaciones para las fir-mas discográficas Ars Harmónica y Empire Master Sound.

JüRGEN STORk: Oboe Master Craftsman at Püchner. Jürgen Stork began his career as an apprentice in woodwind in-strument manufacturing at the Püchner factory in Nauheim.In 1988 Jürgen Stork was awarded first prize at the es-teemed German Youth Hand-Craftsmanship Competition (Leistungswettbewerb der Handwerksjugend) in instru-ment making. His service as an oboist with the German military in Hanover was followed by a master’s degree in woodwind instrument making in Munich and since 1991 he has been a master instrument maker at Püchner. After

Walter Püchner’s retirement, Jürgen Stork was appointed Püchner’s lead master oboe craftsman. Thanks to his innovative designs and close collaboration with world-class oboists, Jürgen is now a leading specialist in his field. Alongside Ger-ald Püchner, Jürgen Stork travels the world presenting workshops on woodwind instrument maintenance and displaying Püchner woodwinds.

The artists - cHrIstIan scHMItt, Jean crIstOPHe GaYOt

JEAN CHRISTOPHE GAYOT: hautbois, direction. Dès sa sortie du Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, où il obtient en 1971 les Prix de Hautbois et de Musique de Chambre, il est choisi comme hautbois solo de l’Orchestre Mondial des Jeunesses Musicales par le grand Maestro tchèque Karel Ancerl. Cette rencontre déterminante le conduit à se perfectionner auprès des grands solistes de l’Opéra de Paris: Pierre Pierlot, Gaston Maugras et le bassoniste Maurice Allard. En 1977 il entre à l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France et obtient le 1er Prix au

Concours International d’Exécution Musicale de Genève, ainsi que le Prix Ernest Ansermet: volonté posthume du grand Chef d’orchestre Vaudois de distinguer un lauréat, pour la qualité de l’interprétation d’une œuvre contemporaine de musique française, en l’occurrence, la Sonate pour hautbois et piano de Henri Dutilleux. Nommé par le compositeur Gilbert Amy en 1984, professeur au Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon, il y enseignera jusqu’en 1999. En 2010 il quitte l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France tout en continuant à enseigner. En mai 2014 il est invité à faire partie du jury de hautbois, dans le cadre du 66 ème Concours International du Printemps de Prague.

CHRISTIAN SCHMITT schloss seine Studien mit besten Aus-zeichnungen am Conservatoire Supérieur in Lyon und an der Musikhochschule in Karlsruhe ab. Anschließend war er 20 Jahre als 1. Solo-Oboist beim Sinfonieorchester Ba-sel tätig. Seit 2008 hat er die Professur für Oboe an der Staatlichen Musikhochschule in Stuttgart inne. Er spielt als Solist unter dem Stab von namhaften Dirigenten wie Nello Santi, Armin Jordan, Marcello Viotti, Heinz Holliger, Walter Weller u.a. ALESSANDRO PADOAN si è diplomato con lode in Pianoforte e in Clavicembalo (con Annaberta Conti) presso il Conser-vatorio di Bologna. Come concertista ha ottenuto signifi-cativi successi in Italia, in Europa e negli Stati Uniti come solista al clavicembalo e in varie formazioni cameristiche e orchestrali, esibendosi in importanti stagioni concertisti-che (Società dei Concerti di Bolzano, Amici della Musica, Società del Quartetto, Ex Novo Musica, Associazione Mu-sicale Meranese, Festival Internazionale di Musica Antica lungo il corso del fiume Sile – “Chiaro Lo Specchio Dell’Ac-

qua”, “Antiqua” dell’Accademia del Ricercare, Asolo Musica) anche con registra-zioni radiofoniche (Radio3 RAI). È docente di Clavicembalo al Conservatorio “Claudio Monteverdi” di Bolzano, coordinatore dell’Area Discipline Interpretative della Musica Antica. È Presidente dell’Accademia Berica per la Musica Antica, fondata nel 2012.

ROBERTO TRAININI si è diplomato con lode alla Hochschule für Musik di Amburgo con Wolfgang Mehlhorn. Ha con-tinuato gli studi con Steven Isserlis a Prussia Cove (Inghil-terra), partecipando con successo a rinomati concorsi in-ternazionali (1° premio, Belgrado 2005, finalista e 4°posto, Bonucci 2003 premio speciale “G.Padroni”). Suoi partner musicali sono Jörg Demus, Elliot Fisk, Luz Leskowitz, Da-vid Geringas, Karl Leister, Jeremy Menuhin,Hermann Bau-mann, Voces Quartett, Bartok Quartett, Amati Ensemble Maastricht, Gil Sharon, Benjamin Schmidt, Maurice Steger,

Janne Thomsen, Marc Grauwels, Igor Oistrakh. Nel 2008-10 è stato primo violon-cello solista della prestigiosa SSO Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Dal 2012 è Professore di Violoncello al Conservatorio di Bolzano. Suona in duo con il pianista Cristiano Burato e registra per la Brilliant Classics e la OnClassical.

ALESSANDRA GENTILE Die Pianistin absolvierte mit Aus-zeichnung ihr Studium am Konservatorium ihrer Heimat-stadt Perugia in der Klasse von Annarosa Taddei sowie ihr Aufbaustudium an der Hochschule für Musik in München bei Prof. Gerhard Oppitz. Nach ihrem Abschluss unter-richtete sie bis zum Jahre 2002 Klavier an der Münchner Musikhochschule. Zur Zeit ist Alessandra Gentile als Kam-mermusikprofessor an den Hochschulen von Cagliari, Fer-mo und Parma tätig und Gastdozent bei verschiedenen deutschen Hochschulen und Akademien. 2014 gründete

sie das Ensemble für moderne und zeitgenössische Musik „UmbraeSonorae“. Mit dem Oboisten Christian Schmitt bildet sie ein festes Duo. Weiters arbeitet sie eng mit dem Hamburger Pianisten und Dirigenten Cord Garben zusammen - mit Erstaufführungen an zwei Klavieren von Franz Liszt und Hermann Behn/Richard Wagner.

CRISTIANO BURATO Nachdem er bei internationalen Kla-vier-Wettbewerben (u. a. Jaen, Sydney, London, Leeds) bedeutende Preise erlangte, hat sich Cristiano Burato durch den Gewinn des angesehenen Internationalen Wett-bewerbs “Dino Ciani“ in Mailand, unter Einstimmigkeit der von Riccardo Muti geleiteten Jury, auf internationalen Büh-nen definitiv behauptet. Er ist Mitglied des künstlerischen Komitees des Wettbewerbs “Busoni” in Bozen

MONTEVERDI AkADEMIE Si rinnova, dopo il successo dell’edizione 2013 l’invito del Festival oboistico internazionale per l’orchestra da camera Monteverdi Akademie come ensemble uffi ciale. La Monteverdi Akademie è composta dai docenti e al-cuni dei migliori allievi selezionati dai corsi accademici del Conservatorio “Claudio Monteverdi” e, malgrado l’intento didattico, ha sempre mantenuto un approccio qualitativo di alto profi lo professionale. Questo è testimoniato dalle prestigiose col-laborazioni con i solisti del Festival ma anche con nomi di fama mondiale quali il violinista Lukas Hagen o il violoncellista Enrico Bronzi. Con questi in veste di solista e concertatore il infatti il complesso si è esibito per due anni consecutivi su invito dell’Orchestra Haydn all’ Alto Adige Festival-Südtiroler Festspiele nella Sala Mahler di Dobbiaco, oltre che nella stagione concertistica degli Amici della Musica di Verona al Teatro Ristori e per la Fondazione Stradivari Museo del Violino di Cremona, sempre riscuotendo entusiastici consensi.

Family and firmThe firm was founded in 1897 in the Bohemian town of Graslitz (now Kraslice), at that time part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, by Vinzenz Püchner, a musician and maker of woodwind instruments. The firm soon gained a considerable reputation for its instruments, which were played in orchestras both at home and abroad. When Vinzenz was called up for military service, his teenage son Josef took over. Graslitz and the Püchner firm and family were directly affected by the political turbulence of two World Wars. With the dissolution of the Austrian monarchy after World War I, the city became part of the newly-founded state of Czechoslovakia; it became German in 1938, and Czech once more after World War II. After the ex-propriation, nationalisation and liquidation of the firm in Graslitz, the family moved to Hesse in 1948 and a new start was made in Nauheim. Josef, his wife Paula and their children Walter and Gerta rebuilt the business step by step, initially repairing orchestral instruments. Later they resumed the manufacture of new oboes, clari-nets and bassoons of seasoned wood, and soon established a reputation for high quality in orchestral circles.

La società Frank & Meyer, è stata fondata nel 1989 dal Holblasinstrumentenbaumeister (Liutaio per strumenti a fiato di legno) Ludwig Frank e il musicista Frank Meyer. Sotto questo nome: Ludwig Frank & Frank Meyer, riven-ditori specializzati e Laboratorio di costruzione strumen-ti, è uno dei leader di mercato europei e mondiali di stru-menti a fiato in legno. FOSSATI France

L’atelier du hautbois a officiellement vu le jour en 1986. C’est la plus jeune fabrication Française, mais sa réputation est aujourd’hui acquise chez les hautboïstes dans le monde entier, les trois quarts de sa production part à l’étranger. D’abord spécialisée dans les instruments haut de gamme, les Fossati, L’atelier du hautbois a étendu sa gamme à des hautbois d’étude, de marque Tiery. Le nom Tiery a été formé avec la dernière syllabe du nom des deux fondateurs, Gérard Fossati, désormais à la retraite et Pascal Emery.

Gérard Fossati et Pascal Emery s’étaient rencontrés dans une autre maison de fabrication de hautbois en1974, année du début d’apprentissage de pascal Emery. Gérard Fossati était déjà dans la fabrication depuis 8 ans. Gérard Fossati était finisseur (celui qui ajuste les tampons, qui pose et tend les ressorts etc) et Pascal Emery clétier (celui qui ajuste les clés, qui les monte sur l’instrument etc).Leur idée était de repenser les mécaniques des hautbois, cor anglais pour qu’elles soient confortables par des levées courtes, des clés et des ressorts souples et nerveux.

Mais c’était aussi développer des instruments avec des musiciens. Un hautbois se construit par le dialogue entre musicien et facteur. Le prototype des hautbois Fossati avait dès 1984 été essayé par des musiciens de l’orchestre de Radio France. L’idée a toujours été de faire un hautbois élégant dans son aspect mais aussi dans le son.

Depuis 2008 L’atelier du hautbois a été repris par 4 employés de l’entreprise.Danièle Lefèvre comptable et assistante de direction en est maintenant la Gérante.

Stéphane Guillaume finisseur, réparateur est responsable de toute la mise au point, du suivi de la fabrication et du développement des instruments. Pascal Emery ancien clétier est en charge de la relation avec les clients.Thierry Braun tourneur continue le tournage des corps.

L’entreprise a été longtemps à Montargis ville située à 100 km de Paris. Elle a déménagé pour des locaux plus vastes et plus clairs à Amilly ville voisine de Montargis. Dans ses nouveaux locaux l’organisation est plus facile, tous les corps de métier Tournage Clétage Finissage sont ensemble. Les instruments sont entièrement fait dans cet atelier: le tournage des corps ainsi que le pointage sur des machines à commande numérique, le façonnage des clés et leur assemblage à la main ainsi que le finissage, et en final les essais et mise au point avec les musiciens.Les instruments Fossati et Tiery sont élaborés, testés en collaboration régulière avec les essayeurs Michel Bénet (soliste de l’orchestre de Paris), Jean Marc Liet (hautbois et cor anglais à l’ensemble de musique contemporaine 2E 2m) et Jean Christophe Gayot (ancien professeur du Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Lyon et premier hautbois à l’orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France).Stéphane Guillaume développe aussi les instruments en écoutant des musiciens du monde entier.

C’est ainsi qu’il a créé le hautbois FX³ dernier né de la gamme Fossati. Martin Gebhart (hautboïste Suisse fondateur avec Miriam Moser de l’ensemble Aulos Quartet) a demandé à Stéphane Guillaume de lui faire un hautbois spécial en buis avec des bagues en elforyn rappelant les instruments du 18 ème et 19 ème siècle. Martin Gebhart a partagé avec Stéphane Guillaume sa connaissance sur le rôle de la tête des hautbois notamment pour les instruments du début du 19ème. Stéphane Guillaume a voulu développé cette étude, il a fait un hautbois avec une tête modulable. De là est né le hautbois Fossati FX³.
