NYK recognized that with the growth in popularity of sport utility vehicles and mini vans

the height of tradi-tional passenger car decks could not accommodate the changing needs

of the automotive industry. NYK implemented an aggressive new building plan that

addressed these industry changes a long with other forward thinking ideas in vessel

design.

Tall vehicles such as sports-utilities and vans can be accommodated in specially designed

high car decks.

By increasing the size of tradi-tional automotive decks we give our customers greater

flexibility to load larger volumes on a single voyage thereby better addressing the just in

time demands of the market-place.

The new generation of NYK Ro/Ro vessel allows us to carry up to 5,980 car equivalent

units!

High Car Capacity is tremendous at 4,923 high car equivalent units!

Vessel design allows for the loading process to proceed like clockwork. A cargo of 4,500

cars can be loaded in less than 15 hours!

Large volumes are no problem for the largest carrier in the industry lifting 2.0 plus million

cars annually.

NYK recognized that the off highway industry consisting of Road Building & Construction

Equipment, Agricultural Equipment, Boats, Buses and Tractor Cabs as examples have had

an increasing need for international ocean transport. NYK instituted many new design

features to better serve this industry as well as design features that anticipate the future

needs of these important shippers.

For example, single-pillar vehicle decks provide more space and fewer obstacles. Decks

and ramps are engineered with strength to handle heavy-duty vehicles.

Deck heights up to 6.5meters and ramp weight capacities up 200 tons allow us to load

some of the largest off highway pieces manufactured! High and Heavy decks can

accommodate as many as 712 standard truck equivalent units on a single voyage!

Our cargo is driven. Our vessel design allows cargo to be handled in the manner it was

designed!

Our customers drive us forward and our customers demand flexibility! By designing and

operating vessels that have hoist able decks we tailor make or configure the vessel to

satisfy your requirements. Each voyage becomes a puzzle for our skilled port captains

who utilize the most modern software programs combined with their vast practical

experience to ensure all cargo is loaded in a safe and efficient manner.

The flexibility of the vessel allows us to load a mixture of passenger-oriented cargo with

off highway cargo. These flexible, modern vessels also allow us to load palletized or

unitized cargo with self-propelled rolling stock. By utilizing forklifts, tow vehicles or

specialized mafi trailers we can make non-rolling cargo rolling.

Even cargo that is not on wheels can be put on wheels with the use of specialized

equipment and professional cargo care. Large machinery and parts can be loaded

benefiting those customers who deal in project shipments.
