Qualifications & Experience Essential 1. Excellent Maths, English and ICT skills (GCSE C Grade or higher in Maths and English, or equivalent is essential) 2. Recognised Nursery Nurse qualification (eg NNEB, NVQ3, CACHE, BTEC) at a B grade or higher/ merit or distinction depending on year qualified 3. Explicit training/experience in FS1 or FS2 in appropriate curriculum or learning areas. Desireable 4. Recent experience within a 3-5 age range learning environment. 5. Recent experience of working with children new to the English Language 6. Recent experience of using a school/setting behaviour policy

Knowledge and skills Essential The ability to effectively: 7. Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of an EYFS team. 8. Have a strong understanding of EYFS classroom roles and responsibilities. 9. Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school. 10. Show a strong working knowledge of the EYFS curriculum, Development Matters, Letters & Sounds and other relevant learning programmes 11. Understand the principles of early child development and learning processes and in particular barriers to learning. 12. Show excellent organisation skills to aid the preparation of resources, create a stimulating learning environment and support others. 13. Observe, monitor and provide constructive feedback on pupil’s progress, linking these to the curriculum and providing relevant next steps 14. Demonstrate a secure working knowledge of relevant policies and codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation.

15. Contribute to long and short-term planning as part of the EYFS team. 16. Contribute to planning effective actions for any pupils at risk of underachieving. 17. Build and maintain effective relationships with pupils, treating them equally with respect and consideration. 18. Experience the keyworker role 19. Understand the contribution parents and carers make in pupils’ learning and demonstrate ability to liaise with parents and carers sensitively and effectively. 20. Provide necessary personal care to children. 21. Complete First Aid training as required and be prepared to routinely take on the role of First Aider as required 22. Demonstrate ability and willingness to identify own training needs and participate in training and evaluation of own learning. 23.
