Help the Friends with Administrative and Clerical Tasks. - If you would like tovolunteer with the Friends but projects like trail work and tree plantings are too physical, thismight be right for you. We would like to organize a team of volunteers to help us withcommunications, mailings, and other administrative and clerical type tasks. If you are interested, please contact Andy Urquhart at [email protected] or (302) 239-2471.

Other Projects Have Been ContinuingIn addition to the projects mentioned elsewhere in this newsletter, there has been a whole

lot of activity by Friends members in and around the park. Trail work has been continuing, withone notable accomplishment (among many) being the reopening of the Preserve Loop Trail afterextensive damage from the flooding this fall. Our adopt-a-trail volunteers are continuing regularmonitoring and light maintenance of their assigned trails. Several volunteers helped sell waterice at summer concerts and staffed the nature center on weekends; both of these projects havenow been completed for the year. Friends members are leading programs in the Park's programseries, with some special hikes taking place this fall. The final hike, a visit to the Big Pond area,is scheduled for November 21. Also, a group of volunteers have been maintaining the nativeplant gardens at the park office and are considering similar plantings at the nature center for nextyear. We again thank our many volunteers who make all these accomplishments possible.CalendarNovember 7 Trail WorkNovember 8 Executive Committee MeetingDecember 5 Trail WorkDecember 13 Executive Committee MeetingJanuary 17 Executive Committee Meeting with the Advisory BoardFebruary 14 Executive Committee MeetingMarch 14 Executive Committee MeetingMarch Annual Membership Meeting (to be scheduled)March 19 Trail WorkApril 11 Executive Committee MeetingApril 16 Trail Work - Christina River CleanupApril 20 - 22 Reforestation - Tree Delivery and SetupApril 23 Reforestation - Tree PlantingMay 9 Executive Committee MeetingMay 21 Trail WorkJu!'!,:, I\.
