History of Greenhouse effect

• Svant Arrhenius (1859-1927) Swedich scientist.

• 1896: He was the first to claim that fossil fuel combustion may eventually result in enhanced global warming.

• He found that the average surface temperature of the earth is about 15°c because of the infrared absorption capacity of water vapor and carbon dioxide.

• He suggesed a doubling of the carbon dioxide concentration would lead to a 5°c temperature rise.

Causes of Greenhouse effect

• The main reason for Greenhouse effect is the emission of gases like nitrous-ioxide, carbon dioxide, methane, ozone and water vapor. The causes of these emissions have been listed below.

Consequences of Greenhouse effect

• Rise of the level of the seas .

• Climatic altertions in all the planet.

• Increase of the terrestrial and oceanic biomass.

• Deep modifications in the typical vegetation of each region and altitude.

• Increase in the incidence of illnesses and proliferation

Conclusion

• From 1998 onwards the terminology on the Greenhouse effect started to change as a result of media influences. The Greenhouse effect as a term was used less and less and people started to refer to the theory as either global warming or climate change.
