IT ’S TIME TO PLAY WITH US!

First Friday Experience (continued) February 4 March 4 Starring “The Gallery” ~ Starring “The Gallery” welcomes the return of Donna Thibodeau with her incredible watercolor paintings. We invite you to join us on Friday evening where you will have an opportunity to meet Donna. Enjoy a glass of wine as you mingle with friends and browse the gallery.

“Luxurious”& “Moonglow” By Donna Thibodeau

About the Artist: My first watercolor was painted in my kitchen in Detroit. Living in the city made me see beauty in unique forms. Art was put aside while I at-tained a degree in biology and worked in a career where I used art and science together in the labora-tory. I continue to work in a very analytical way when approaching my art. I emphasize drawing, design, composition and use of color. Many art classes at various schools, as well as work-shops from local and nationally known art profession-als led to my proficiency with the use of watercolor. I have remained a watercolorist throughout my career. I love watercolor due to its beautiful transparency and challenging and unpredictable nature. My goal as an artist is to design a composition that will capture the attention and interest of the viewer. I want to convey the emotion I feel when I see something beautiful that moves me. I want to inspire others with my point of view. Donna Thibodeau Starring “The Gallery” ~ 118 W. Main ~ 248-347-1642

The Movies at the Marquis “Classics Thru the Decades” movie series con-tinues through March 19th featuring everything from musicals to romance to drama, action and intrigue. Our opening movie - Raiders of the Lost Ark sponsored by Preservation Dental was lots of fun!

Three great movies have been shown to a nearly full theater so far; and we are thrilled to see so many fa-miliar faces. Thank for coming out and spending your Saturday night in Downtown Northville. We very fortunate to have two great businesses, Tom Holzer Ford and Renewal by Anderson sponsoring the 2011 movie series and supporting Downtown Northville. Both sponsors are actively participating in this event and have attended the movies each week participating with the raffles and giveaways.

When’s the last time you had such a great time for only $3? Without the support of all of our sponsors, events such as the Movies at the Marquis would not be possible. A BIG thank you to all!

February in Michigan is a tough month for many be-cause it’s cold and it often lacks sun. These factors exacerbate a condition called S.A.D. (seasonal affec-tive disorder). Symptoms include: • Afternoon slumps with decreased energy and con-

centration

• Carbohydrate cravings

• Decreased interest in work or other activities

• Depression that starts in fall or winter

• Increased appetite with weight gain

• Increased sleep and excessive daytime sleepiness

• Lack of energy

• Slow, sluggish, lethargic movement

• Social withdrawal

Even kids and teens can struggle with this form of de-pression and can appear irritable and have more diffi-culty in school.

Give Jacque Martin-Downs, LMSW a call if you want to get in for a consultation to see what can be done about it through counseling. It might be the smartest call you make all winter.

Center Street Wealth Strategies 134 MainCentre Northville, MI 48167 www.centerstreetws.com 248-305-5278 There are substantial changes coming your way if you offer a 401(k) or similar retirement plan to your em-ployees. It is imperative that you understand and sub-sequently adhere to these changes to ensure your fiduciary compliance. Here is a brief summary of the changes and their impact. 1. Employees will now see all costs related to their

investments. If you have, or are using, a retire-ment plan that passes the expense onto employ-ees, they will now see these costs both quarterly and annually; at a minimum.

A. Now would be an appropriate time to re- view your 401(k) or retirement plan to ensure you are offering appropriate and reasonably priced investment choices. B. As the owner and trustee of you retirement plan, you are considered a fiduciary. This legal term describes your role and responsibilities to act in your employees’ best interest. This in- cludes offering an appropriate selection of I investments, controlling investment expenses, ensuring employee education, and conducting reviews to ensure adequate diversification. C. If you have not reviewed you r 401(k) plan

in the last few years, now is the time to do so. In many cases, business owners have been able to offer their employees higher quality investment choices and reduced expenses by selecting a different provider. D. We suggest using a financial firm to help you select the most appropriate plan available or to offer advice on your existing plan to help compliance with you fiduciary standard. 2. The Roth 401(k) feature is now available and may be an appropriate addition to your existing retirement plan. This may further your ability as a business owner to save assets which will be income tax free in retire-ment. 3. Often the ability of the business owner to defer in-come is a function of the participation rate of their em-ployees. Education is often the primary reason em-ployees elect not to participate. A consistent educa-tional process may assist in alleviating these issues. I would encourage you to review your existing plan in the first quarter of 2011 as the changes mentioned above will most likely have to be in effect by July 2011. Our firm can assist you in providing your em-ployees with a competitive retirement plan design, conducting fiduciary reviews for ERISA compliance, and help educate your employees of the benefits as-sociated with participating in your retirement plan. We look forward to your call or email if we may be of assistance. Nicholas E.
