Golf Course InformationWelcome to The Preserve at Verdae!

Our 18 hole, par 72 championship golf course designed by Willard Byrd, is carved into a lush Carolina Forest with hills and mountain-like brooks, making The Preserve at Verdae both scenic and challenging to play.

Our course is situated on over 100 acres of green space in the heart of mid-town Greenville in Verdae Development, and located adjacent to the Embassy Suites Greenville Golf Resort and Conference Center. In addition to the best 18 hole golf layout in the upstate, our facility features large all grass practice areas with driving range, putting green, chipping and short game green. All practice facilities mirror our course with Bermuda tees and fairways and we are the only course in the upstate with Mini-Verde Bermuda greens.

The Preserve at Verdae is committed to the environment. Our mission is ‘Striving for Harmony Between Golf and Nature’. We have re-imagined our landscaping along the course and created naturalized areas reflecting native grasses and plants and reducing the amount of water, pesticides and fertilizers required. In addition we have

created an environment attractive to the local wildlife. During your round you may encounter a rafter of turkeys or magnificent hawks soaring above the pine trees. You can play golf many places, but only here can you have The Preserve at Verdae experience.

GREENVILLE, SC INFORMATIONCNN Travel hailed Greenville, SC as one of the “15 Charming Cities in the American South and USA Today named us one of the “Five Underrated Food Cities in the South.” The New York Times recently named Greenville one of the “52 Places to Go (In the World!) in 2017” (Greenville actually made the #12 spot!)

Greenville has a wide-ranging food scene; quirky boutiques; outdoor cafes on bustling, tree-lined, pedestrian-friendly streets; art galleries; bike trails; ample urban green space; a public art collection with more than 70 sculptures.

LIBERTY BRIDGEAt 345 feet long, 12 feet wide and 8 inches thick, the concrete reinforced deck is supported by a single suspension cable. The deck’s distinctive curve has a radius of 214 feet and it is cantilevered toward the waterfall from supporting cables on the outside. The bridge deck also inclines 12 feet or 3% from east to west over the river.

While bridges with similar structural concepts have been built in Europe, this bridge is unique in its geometry and there is nothing like it in the United States.

Below the bridge the 28 foot Reedy River Falls is the site where Greenville’s first European settler, Richard Pearis, established his trading post in 1768. Later he built grist and saw mills at this same location which was the hub of early industry in Greenville until the 1920s.

FALLS PARK ON THE REEDYEnjoy beautiful gardens as you sit on one of the many benches while enjoying nature. There are several outdoor cafes that overlook the falls.

GHS SWAMP RABBIT TRAILThe Greenville Health System Swamp Rabbit Trail Network is a 22 mile multi-use green-way system. Opened in 2009, this trail has experienced continual growth and offers fun, non-motorized recreation and transportation opportunities.

FLUOR FIELD at the WEST END945 South Main Street, Greenville, SC 29601(864) 240-4500http://www.milb.com/index.jsp

Fluor Field at the West End opened April 6, 2006. It was built as a new home of the Greenville Drive baseball team, the A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.

It nearly replicates the dimensions of Fenway Park, home of the Red Sox. The ballpark has its own “Green Monster” replica, a 30-foot high wall in left field as opposed to the 37-foot one found at Fenway, and contains a manual scoreboard. Every other dimension is to the same specifications as Fenway Park, including “Pesky’s Pole” in right field. Other than the tribute to Fenway, Fluor Field also pays tribute to the Greenville area as the ballpark’s nostalgic look utilizes reclaimed bricks from local mills. As is the tradition in Fenway Park, Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” is sung in the middle of the eighth inning.

SHOELESS JOE JACKSON MUSEUM AND BASEBALL LIBRARY356 Field StreetAcross from Fluor Filed Historic West End (864) 346-4867Open every Saturday, 10:00am - 2:00pmMonday-Friday private tours by appointment. Email request to [email protected] admission Free parking Gift shop

Visit Joe’s “sweet spot”The Shoeless Joe Jackson Museum is located in the house

where Joe lived and died.

Brief HistoryIn 2006, the home of Joe Jackson was dismantled, moved three miles, and reassembled on Field Street in the historic West End of Greenville, SC.

In July 2007, the house was deeded to the Shoeless Joe Jackson Museum and Baseball Library foundation.

On June 21, 2008, fans celebrated the dedication and grand opening of the museum located in the house where Joe Jackson lived and died. The not-for-profit museum displays records, artifacts, photographs, film and other items of interest associated with the historic life and baseball career of Shoeless Joe Jackson. A book collection related to baseball and its role in American culture is housed in Joe’s former trophy room. Donations of books have been made by baseball enthusiasts from across America.

The house number is 356, a reminder that Joe’s lifetime batting average was .356, the third highest in baseball history after Ty Cobb and Rogers Hornsby.
