The Japanese auto giant the Toyota Motors has successfully launched many of

their vehicles in the Indian automobile market. Their most popular product has

been the MUV Quallis which is no more produced. In 2005 the Indian subsidiary

the Toyota Kirloskar Motors Private Limited has launched the replacement the

MPV Innova which also has proved its worth in the market. Toyota Innova the

The Toyota Innova has undergone many facelifts since its launching with the

recent one being in January 2015. The Toyota Innova comes in 14 diesel variants

only priced Rupees 12.54 to 16.02 kmpl. The trims are the G, the GX, VX and the

ZX. The first 3 trims have 7- seaters and 8-seaters conforming to BSIII and BS IV

exhaust norms. The ZX 7 STR BSIII and ZX 8 STR BSIV are the other two top trims.

The body of the Innova is sturdy with average looks. The Innova comes in colours

of grey mica metallic, blue metallic, silky gold mica metallic, dark mica red

metallic, silver mica metallic and super white. The external features include a

stylish chrome grille with three slats, the angular headlamps, the oval fog lamps

tinted glasses, the slanted ‘A’ and ‘D’ pillars and the flowing pattern of the wheel

flare.

The Innova has the most spacious and comfortable cabin among the MPVs. The

standard features include an engine immobiliser, a manual AC, tilt and power

steering, full folding rear seat, power windows, internally operated body coloured

ORVMs and rain sensing wipers. GX variants have 1 air bag, ABS, fabric seats and

electrical body coloured ORVMs. From variants VX onwards 2 air bags, an

automatic AC, rear parking sensors with camera, electric ORVMs with blinkers and

a 2 Din music system with Bluetooth connectivity are provided.

The Innova uses a 2499 cc, 100 bhp, 200 NM torque engine giving mileages of

12.99 kmpl for BSIV versions and 13.77 kmpl for BSIII versions. It takes 12.8

seconds for 0 to 100 kmph acceleration with top speeds of 179 kmph.

The 4585 mm long Innova has a ground clearance of 176 mm. The suspensions

are the double wishbone axle type at the front and the four links with lateral rod

type at the rear.

Spacious cabins, the build quality and the features make Innova highly

competitive. The competition comes from the cars like the Honda Mobilio, the

Maruti Ertiga and the Mahindra Xylo.
