47 Ninth International Congress of Surveyors The Ninth International Congress of Surveyors, organised by the International Fed- eration of Surveyors (I.F.S.) (F~d~ration Internationale des Gdom~tres, F.I.G.), will be held from 28th August--4th September 1958 in Scheveningen and Delft, Netherlands. Amongst the principal aims of the I.F.S. are the following. a. To group the national associations or organisations of surveyors of all countries with the object of interchanging views on matters of general interest to the profession. b. To encourage, subsidize and disseminate the results of professional research, and discoveries useful to surveyors, in the scientific, technical, legal, economic and social spheres. c. To co-ordinate professional training in accordance with new methods. The Federation realises the above-mentioned aims by organizing: a. International Congresses, b. Meetings of committees, c. Lectures, exhibitions and experiments to demonstrate methods or instruments. The scientific part of the Congress consists of the work of the seven technical Com- missions, respectively covering the following fields: Technical Dictionary; Cadastre and Rural Reallotment; Instruments and Methods, Photogrammetry, Cartography; Town Planning and Urban Reallotment; Junior Survey- ors; Professional Activities and Emoluments; Professional Training. Beside the scientific part of the Congress, an entertainment programme has been planned which will enable the congressists to make acquaintance with the Netherlands and to take up further contacts with colleagues from other countries in an informal atmosphere. The accomodation for the congressists will be provided mainly at the seaside resort of Scheveningen. The Commission meetings will be held in one of the buildings of the Technical University of Delft. In the same building there will be an Exhibition of sur- veying instruments, drawing materials, reproduction-, computing- and administration machines etc. The languages at the Congress will be French, English and German. The members of Associations, affiliated to the I.F.S. may obtain the provisional programme of the Congress at the Secretariat of their Associations. All others interested may receive the provisional programme by applying directly to: Cong~es F.I.G., K~naalweg 4, Delft (Netherlands).
