Remembrance Day PA Announcement Today, November 11, we commemorate Remembrance Day and pay tribute to Australian soldiers, sailors, airmen and airwomen lost in the service of our country. Of course, today is not only an Australian day of commemoration. Today we join many other nations who are also paying tribute to sons and daughters who did not return. We stop to remember, not to glorify or celebrate war, but to remember, to honor and to give thanks to over 100,000 Australians who have given their lives in the service of our country. Today we think about how much we, as Australians from many backgrounds, appreciate life and how highly we appreciate those who were willing to lay down their lives for our nation, its people and its values. Cranbourne East Secondary College held its first Multicultural Day on 22 November. The day was

organized by the Student Voice leadership team with support from a lot of other students and

staff members. The Year 7-9 groups participated in face painting, dot painting, origami, an

Olympic documentary and a Humanities mapping activity. The whole-school concert included

student leader speeches by Joel, Abbie and Isa; our guest speaker Emmanuel Jakwot from the

VFL; the Principal’s welcome and amazing multicultural mosaic launch; beautiful Bollywood

dancing, energetic K-POP dancing, the CESC Choir performing in French, a Lava-lava fashion show,

the amazing Pacific Islanders Girls Dance Group and bagpipes by Ms Hall.

At lunch, the Dragon Dancers performed beautifully and Raymond Wati did a fantastic set of

music to keep the crowds happy and moving. In addition to international food cooked up by the

canteen and Food Tech Team, CESC welcomed its first food truck, Dos Diablos Mexican Cuisine,

which was a huge hit! The special guest speaker, Emmanuel Jakwot from the Casey Scorpions VFL

team, spoke to students about diversity, multiculturalism and how he has come to be the person

he is today. The focus of the day was Anti-Racism and Anti-bullying as well as getting along and

tolerance. Students and staff wore international free dress and the funds raised will go to support

the Breakfast Club and other Student Voice initiatives. Congratulations to the Multicultural Day

Organising Team for a great day!

BREAKFAST CLUB EXCURSION

On Thursday the 3rd of November, all of the breakfast club volunteers and staff were given the

opportunity to go to Marine Parade, Hastings on a bus to enjoy some delicious breakfast and also

look at how they keep their kitchen organised and how they keep their restaurant hygienic and

productive.

First we gave our orders to the lovely waitress. Next we went out to the beach just for a little

while to enjoy the view and the sun. For breakfast, we had a mixture of eggs, bread, avocado,

mushrooms, bacon and the tastiest juices! On top of all of this, we were looking at the beach that

was right outside the window. The restaurant looked quite beachy and it was very cute with all

its little plants and decorations.

After eating all of our yummy breakfast, we were given a tour by the owner of the restaurant. He

showed us the different ways in which each item was stored, the places they cooked the different

types of food, the way that they keep orders organised so that everyone is quickly served with

fresh food and where all of the dishes are washed afterwards. It was quite interesting to see how

many similarities there were between the way we run things at the breakfast club and how they

work their restaurant. Just like us, everyone had their own job, they had storage rooms, they

were taking orders and they were wearing the same personal protection equipment.

Overall, this excursion was a very relaxing yet informative excursion. My favourite thing about it

was definitely the freshly squeezed orange juice! I had never been behind the scenes of a

professional restaurant so this was a new and fascinating experience for me.
