    In the autumn of 1861, young Grigorescu left forParis, where he studied at thecole des Beaux-Arts. However, he soon left this workshop and, attracted by the artistic concepts of theBarbizon school, he left Paris for that village, where he became the associate of artists such asJean-Franois Millet,Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot,Gustave CourbetandThodore Rousseau. Under the influence of the movement, Grigorescu looked for new means of expression and followed the trend ofen plein airpainting, which was also important inImpressionism. As part of theUniversal Expositionof Paris (1867), he contributed seven works. Then he exhibited at theParis Salonof 1868 the paintingTnr iganc(Young Gypsy girl).

    En1861, il obtient une bourse qui lui permet d'tudier lcole des Beaux-arts de Pariso, dans l'atelier deJean-Jean Cornu, il aRenoirpour condisciple. Il en profite pour aller copier auLouvreles toiles des grands matres. l'auberge du pre Ganne, prs deFontainebleau, il rencontre les matres de l'cole de BarbizoncommeMillet,DaubignyouCorotet s'initie la peinture de plein air dans les forts voisines. Il part ensuite peindre Barbizon. leur contact, il allge sa palette et opte pour une touche la fois abrge et synthtique, par larges coups de brosse visibles tout en affirmant dj sa prdilection pour des thmes et un rendu ralistes, la fois construit et spontan. La rencontre deGeorges de Bellio, mcne desimpressionnistes, l'initie aux styles deMonet,RenoirouSisley. Sa palette gagne encore en luminosit, mais il conserve son got pour la paysannerie et un ralisme direct.
