He managed to stay in the competition despite a touch-and-go week in which his single of Stevie Wonder’s Overjoyed failed to make an impact on the iTunes charts. He beat fellow Team Ricky contestant Miss Murphy and will now compete against Team Delta’s Celia Pavey, Team Seal’s Harrison Craig and Team Joel’s Danny Ross in next week’s final. This week’s show saw him return to his oper- atic roots with a version of Lucio Dalla’s stirring aria Caruso, followed by his original song Love Is Blind, a heartfelt tune about break-ups inspired by his dark days, which have been referenced throughout the series. He now relies on the public to continue sup- porting him by downloading his single, and voting by phone and text message. If he wins next week he will be the first male to win Nine’s top-rating reality series. Kennedy went to school in Ludmilla and his father Wayne repre- sented the NT in basket- ball against China. On the Line — the nat- ional provider of Mens- Line Australia — chief executive Alyson Miller said Men’s Health Week was a great opportunity to encourage men to seek counselling services. She said professional counsellors were avail- able 24 hours a day ‘‘to help any man, from any- where in the country, struggling with any prob- lem, at any time’’. Theresa O’Brien had been unable to watch Hawthorn AFL matches or her favourite show Deal or No Deal since Ap- ril, when she called the number on a Federal Government pamphlet about digital switchover. The screen on the four- month-old flatscreen was blank after the contrac- tor ‘‘switched’’ her from analogue to digital. And it remained that way. But after a page 9 story yesterday, a technician called to her Rapid Creek home in Darwin and brought the world back to her living room within 90 minutes. ‘‘I’m ecstatic — I’ve got TV,’’ the 65-year-old said. ‘‘It’s beautiful. ‘‘The first technician did a bodgy job. He put in a wrong antenna. ‘‘Thank you NT News. If it wasn’t for you, noth- ing would’ve happened. ‘‘I wonder how many other people out there are without TV.’’ The Digital Switchover Taskforce had failed to answer NT News ques- tions since Tuesday but said yesterday it needed more time to respond. Truck trailers take tumble A TRUCK driver es- caped injury when two of his trailers rolled in a midnight crash on a main Territory road. Two cranes and emergency crews were called to 15 mile camp when the truck’s two back trailers hit the verge and rolled on the Stuart Highway. It spilled its contents down an embankment. Fireworks seller appeals A BANNED fireworks seller has had pre- hearing discussions with representatives from the NT Police Com- missioner’s office.
