SIGNIFICANT CHANGES

1. Minimum number of credits/courses per year increases from 5 to 6.

2. Beginning with the class of 2018, graduation requirements will increase from 21 credits to 25 credits

In core academic subject areas, students are assigned into different levels of difficulty.

This is determined by:– Academic performance– Teacher recommendation– Standardized tests

Levels are not mutually exclusive

In general, honors classes are for students who:• Are curious learners with a history of

excellent performance• Can work independently• Can master material covered at a faster pace

and in greater depth• Demonstrate an excellent work ethnic• Can manage their time effectively

GRADE POINT AVERAGES(GPA)

Honors classes get more weight when determining GPA.

An ‘A’ in academic English 9 is worth 4.0 quality points.

An ‘A’ in honors English 9 is worth 4.2 quality points.
